How the dream home property works

After spending the usual few hours designing your avatar, you’ll need to choose some traits that will further enhance your character. The Dream home property saddles you with a hefty debt from the start in exchange for immediate access to one of the best properties in the game.

The debt we are talking about is a mortgage the size of a mortgage 125,000 creditswhat you are guilty of Star field‘s intergalactic GalBank. In order to own the house and use it freely, you must pay off this debt. Think of GalBank as a celestial Tom Nook who wants all the money upfront. However, especially in the early game, it is quite a task to earn 125,000 credits.

Alternatively you can pay 500 credits on a weekly basis to enter before the debt is paid off, although these installments do not deduct anything from the total amount owed. Fortunately, unlike a real mortgage, GalBank won’t evict you if you don’t pay. You simply cannot enter the house without paying a fee.

If you can handle paying 500 credits a week, there really is no pressure to pay off the debt right away or not at all. As you progress through the game, you collect more expensive loot to sell, easily covering the entry fee and eventually the mortgage itself. However, if you need a little extra help bringing home the bacon, we’ve got a guide on how to earn credits fast that can help you boost your finances in the early game.

However, if you want to pay off the debt in full, you’ll have to go back to New Atlantis. In the Mast districtfind the local GalBank on the way back to the spaceport. Here you will find your mortgage advisor, Landry Hollifieldwhich will facilitate the daylight robbery that will pay off your home.

It may take a few nudges to get Landry to talk in the right direction, so don’t worry if the Dream House option doesn’t appear at first. If it’s causing you problems, just leave the interaction and start another conversation until it triggers. The conversation option you are looking for is: “I want to talk to you about my home on Nesoi.” After a few more exchanges, Landry gives you the option to pay the debt in full.

If you no longer want to deal with the debt, Landry will also let you know that you can seize the house, which will nullify the contract and subsequently the Dream House feature. Be careful though, because if you don’t remove all the items in them, they will go to the bank.

How to furnish your dream home

The dream house is bare to begin with, with empty bedrooms, bathrooms and a cooking station. Still, you can make anything to fill the space, such as various tool benches, furniture, weapon and clothing displays, and decorations. You can access this crafting menu through a small panel on the wall directly in front of the entrance, or by activating your scanner and selecting the decorating option. Keep in mind that you need resources to create specific decor, so you may not live big right away. In the meantime, though, it’s a great place to dump all your junk!
