Makeup artist reveals GENIUS hack for curling lashes using a VERY generic household item – as she insists it’s just as effective as a proper tool but WON’T cause damage

A make-up artist has revealed how she uses a common household item to give her eyelashes an incredible curl.

The hack was shared by Samantha Taorminaa beauty content creator based in Las Vegas, on TikTok late last month.

Taormina often uses social media to share her makeup tips, tricks and even tutorials.

in this videoTaormina told how she can curl her eyelashes using just a cotton swab, and showed viewers how to do it themselves.

Makeup artist Samantha Taormina shared with viewers how to use a cotton swab to curl their eyelashes

To get things started, Taormina applied two coats of mascara to both sides of her lashes, using one from Rare Beauty

“What if I told you I curl my eyelashes with a cotton swab?” Taormina started the clip. “Would you believe me?”

To kick things off, she started by applying two coats of Rare Beauty mascara to “both sides” of her natural, uncurled lashes.

“If your lashes aren’t naturally curled, this may not work for you, but I still want you to try it,” the influencer warned before elaborating.

She then took out her cotton swab and told viewers to make sure they used the swab while their eyelashes were still wet with mascara.

“I’m going to take my cotton swab and insert it right at the base of my lashes,” she said, moving the center of the swab along her lashes.

“If it’s wet, I’m going to roll up my lashes,” she continued. “What that’s going to do is remove all the excess product from the lashes and also give my lashes a natural curl.”

She then took the sharp edge of the cotton swab and pressed it repeatedly against her eyelashes.

“While those lashes are still wet, I curl them into place without being aggressive with a metal eyelash curler, then remove the excess mascara,” she said.

She then took the edge of the cotton swab and pressed it repeatedly against her lashes, explaining that this was a good alternative to a metal eyelash curler.

Taormina then showed the comparison between her two lashes: the right lash is the one she curled with a cotton swab, while the left one was left untouched.

Samantha’s tips for curled eyelashes

  • Start by applying two coats of mascara
  • While still wet, guide the center of the cotton swab in an upward motion along the lashes
  • Then take the edge of the cotton swab and press it along the lash line

After she finished curling with a cotton swab, she showed off how it looked compared to her untouched lashes.

The difference was very noticeable: her right lashes appeared curled and lifted, while the left lashes were still straight.

“Look at the difference in my lashes, all with a cotton swab,” the beauty expert raved.

“That’s my secret weapon.”

In the comments section of her TikTok, many users seemed quite impressed with the unusual hack, while others promised to try it out for themselves.

‘I’ll have to try! I plucked out my eyelashes as a teenager and have never touched an eyelash curler since!!” wrote one person.

Another agreed: ‘I HAVE TO TRY! Mine are somewhat straight, but worth a try!’

‘I’ve ALWAYS done this, or just with my finger.

“My lashes are very long and curly so I’ve never needed an eyelash curler,” said another.

‘Looks great, what a difference. I hate eyelash curlers. I’m going to try this tomorrow!’ one user typed.

In the comments section of her video, many TikTok users seemed stunned by the hack

However, Taormina isn’t the only one with a mascara trick up its sleeve.

In 2019, New York-based Australian Kelly McCarren — a PR and content manager at online clothing boutique Showpo — took to YouTube to share some of her makeup hacks.

One of her tips was a way to remove mascara from your face if you accidentally get a clump on the top of your eyelid or on your cheek.

McCarren suggested waiting 10 minutes for the mascara to dry, then going in with an old spoolie to simply wipe the mascara off your skin.
