How celebrity doppelganger fooled the world…so can you tell the difference? The lookalike Kate Moss who appeared at Paris Fashion Week is a model from Ormskirk who told how attention from ‘fans’ helped her through tough divorce

A famous lookalike who tricked people into thinking she was Kate Moss at the Paris fashion show is actually a model and mother from Ormskirk who has thanked ‘fans’ for their interest – but how tricky is it to distinguish between the two?

Supermodel Kate’s creepy lookalike stormed the catwalk yesterday at the Marine Serre Womenswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show.

Although many have been misled into thinking it was the real Kate Moss, 50, it was actually someone calling herself ‘Fake Moss’: 43-year-old Denise Ohnona, from Ormskirk in Lancashire.

While Kate was launched as a fashion superstar as a teenager, Denise has only started modeling professionally in the past six years – after enduring not only a difficult divorce, but also a traumatic car accident that left her with lasting scars.

And while Kate has embraced a glittering transatlantic lifestyle of partying hard – before launching her own wellness brand – Denise says she is keen to focus on life as a single mother, while enjoying the attention as a lookalike.

It seemed Marine Serre took inspiration from budget supermarket Aldi, which pulled off a similar stunt last December, this time in Manchester

The eco brand Marine Serre seemed to be inspired by budget supermarket Aldi, which pulled a similar stunt with Denise a few weeks earlier.

As stars descended on Manchester for a Chanel show last December, ‘Kate’ was teased with a 65p bag from the supermarket – although it later emerged it was Denise in disguise.

She has her own Instagram account called @iamnotkatemoss, where she recreates famous catwalk appearances and advertisements with the real thing – enjoying her moments in the spotlight after suffering troubling setbacks in the past.

She recently told the newspaper Time how, not long after leaving school, she was thrown from a car driven by a then-boyfriend, smashing her face through the windshield.

She described how the doctor who operated on her was not trained in plastic surgery and she suffered the consequences of excessive collagen production and thick scars.

Her weight dropped to five and a half stone and she developed stomach ulcers.

She lived for some time in America, in Orange County, where she worked in the telecom sector and got married in Las Vegas, but she and her husband divorced in 2011.

She says she gained weight after becoming depressed and losing interest in going to the gym. She was then inspired to get fit again by people pointing out her resemblance to Kate Moss.

The resemblance between the duo was uncanny: Kate’s daughter walked at Stella McCartney’s show earlier in the day

Denise, a full-time mum, previously told Mail Online: When I split with my ex-husband eight years ago, I became a bit ‘mummy’, lost my fashion sense and gave up the gym.

‘I looked after the children day and night and it was more important to run after them than to look after myself. Then I started having people mistake me for Kate Moss whenever I went anywhere.

‘When I was told I could look like Kate Moss, I picked myself up and started focusing on myself again. I went back to the gym and took care of my appearance and the comments started all over again!’

During her appearance in Paris on Monday, Denise reflected on Kate’s indie days in an oversized leather jacket adorned with the brand’s crescent-shaped logo, with a matching handbag.

She wore plenty of heavy black eye makeup, while her signature dirty blonde locks were worn in loose waves to add to the indie ensemble.

Denise’s Instagram posts, including recreating the sound of Moss’ testimony during Johnny Depp and Amber Depp’s trial.

She is photographed in the window of a McDonald’s playing on Kate’s famous quote: ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’.

Despite her lookalike work, she describes herself as a full-time mother to daughters Elise, 13, and eight-year-old Anais.

Denise said: ‘When I was first bullied I became very shy and felt like I was a fraud, I’m a Fake Moss.

Denise’s resemblance to Kate is regularly highlighted, both in public and on social media

‘But as time went on I started to enjoy it and now find it very flattering – who wouldn’t want to be mistaken for Kate Moss? She is one of the most incredibly iconic women ever!

‘I get mistaken for her every day now – especially when I’m in central London – that’s where the paps often find me.

‘But even the public confuses us, and I’m constantly asked to pose for selfies in nightclubs and in the supermarket.

“It’s amazing that I was able to find something that transformed me from my crummy mom lifestyle to a glamorous ‘supermodel’.”
