How can you revive old browning strawberries? Kitchen hack revives the fruit in just one hour

One clever mom shared how she revived her “sad” bowl of strawberries and made them fresh again with one simple trick.

Haley Scheich from the US said there is no need to throw away and waste strawberries that are a little over their best.

Instead, she recommends placing them in a bowl of cold water and ice for an hour so they’re as good as new.

Hayley forgot a pack of strawberries she had in the fridge, but after trying the trick, she and her kids brushed the whole thing off.

“I hate wasting food, especially foods like berries, that can be pricey!” the mom captioned one video posted on Instagram.

Mama Haley Scheich shared how to make strawberries that are a bit past their prime fresh again by giving them an ice bath for an hour

‘But wait! If your strawberries are looking a little sad, use this simple trick to freshen up your strawberries and make them last a little longer!’

She told her to put the strawberries in a bowl, fill it with cold water and ice, and let them bathe for an hour.

“They’ll be as good as new. And also taste delicious. Give it a try!,” Haley said.

However, Haley cautioned against using the hack if the berries show any trace of mold or rot.

Her clip was viewed more than 2.8 million times and thousands of people praised the helpful tip.

Before and after: She said instead of wasting strawberries, put them in a bowl, fill it with cold water and ice, and let them bathe for an hour, then they’ll be “as good as new.”

‘We have strawberries that almost go bad in the fridge. Good tip!’ said a woman.

‘You are a lifesaver! I was just about to throw away my strawberries when I found this. Thank you!’ exclaimed another.

‘Not really?! I’ve learned something new!’ added a third.

Others shared what they do with past their prime, including one woman who said she freezes them to use in smoothies later.

“You can also plant the whole berry, so you have strawberry plants everywhere!” suggested a viewer.

‘Oh my. I always throw it to the chickens. But I’ll try next time!’ replied a second.

“That can also be done with wilted herbs,” someone else explained.
