How Billi Mucklow and Andy Carroll hid their split from fans: TOWIE star continued to share loved-up snaps as the footballer ditched the UK for a low-paid stint in a fourth-tier French league

Billi Mucklow and Andy Carroll shocked fans when they announced they were divorcing after secretly splitting earlier this year.

The former TOWIE star, 36, and the footballer, 35, tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Hampshire in June 2022, shortly after the groom passed out in bed between TWO blondes during his raucous hen party in Dubai.

After confirming the news of their split this week, Billi seemed to do her best to keep their issues under wraps as she continued to share loved-up snaps on social media.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Andy, who once played for the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle, had signed for French fourth division side Bordeaux despite admitting the move had ‘cost him money’.

Billi, who shares three children with the footballer, stayed at their home in Essex while he left Britain to play for the low-paid stint.

Speak with RMC Sportswho estimated his salary at around €3,500 a month, Andy said: ‘It’s just because I love football. To be honest, it even costs me money to have started playing for the Girondins.’

‘But I play football and I’m just happy to play football. I want to be part of the history of this club and honestly it’s not a matter of money. In my career it has never been a question of money.’

Meanwhile, as he headed to France, Billi continued to share loved-up posts on her Instagram.

In a June 21 update, the couple smiled while attending the wedding of Newcastle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie and his wife Sally.

Billi looked stunning in a blue sequin dress with cut-out details as she wrapped an arm around her husband’s waist.

When the couple broke up, fans shared gushing comments under the photo.

Andy said in a statement on Saturday: ‘Billi and I privately separated earlier this year and we are underway with our divorce proceedings.’

“It’s been a difficult few months for our family and we continue to make progress amicably for our children.”

Meanwhile, a source said The sun: ‘Andy and Billi care deeply about each other and have made great memories together, but decided it was best for the family if they went their separate ways after growing apart.’

“They still focus on the kids and being the best parents they can be and respecting each other.

Before adding: ‘They want the process to be simple for everyone involved. Andy has thrown himself into his football.’

MailOnline has contacted Billi and Andy’s representatives for comment.

Ahead of their wedding, Andy was left red-faced after a photo was revealed in The Sun showing him in bed with Dubai-based bar manager, 29-year-old Taylor Jane Wilkey, from Scarborough.

Before more footage emerged revealing he was also sleeping in the same bed next to a second woman: Taylor’s girlfriend, 28-year-old Phoebe Robb, a personal trainer from Leeds, after a 17-hour drinking session.

Photos showed the footballer passed out and Taylor wearing his personalized bathrobe with ‘Andy Carroll’ embroidered on the chest.

Billi is said to have fled the couple’s home after the antics and taken refuge in her parents’ home, where she removed her £200,000 engagement ring in the run-up to the big day.

The publication reported at the time that the reality star demanded Andy “hand over everything” regarding the photos before their wedding.

He said: “It has been a difficult few months for our family and we continue to move forward amicably for our children.”

They say, “They still focus on the kids and are the best parents they can be and respect each other.”

They also added that Billi wanted to see every footage of the night in question to fully understand what happened.

A friend, with her permission, told MailOnline: ‘Billi thinks he’s an idiot, her whole friendship group thinks the same.

‘They cannot believe he got into this situation and are convinced it is a hoax.

They added: ‘She currently has no plans to call off the wedding, which is still going ahead.

‘But if something else comes out, that could change.

“Andy is definitely in the doghouse, that’s for sure.”

The couple have sons Arlo, nine, and Wolf, six, and daughter Marvel, four, in addition to Andy’s children Emilie Rose, 15, and Lucas, 14, from a previous relationship.

They got married at the five-star Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire, followed by a Coachella-themed party, which they called Carroll Chella.

New bride Billi swapped her flowing wedding dress for a white feather mini dress and silver cowboy boots as she let her hair down and danced with her husband for the second day of their wedding festivities at a festival-style party.

It came after the couple chose a traditional all-white theme for their lavish wedding ceremony at the five-star hotel – and exchanged vows surrounded by displays of white roses during the ceremony, which took place in a spectacular 16th-century walled garden.

Rows and rows of £100 bottles of champagne were discreetly arranged on trestle tables behind a high hedge as cheers rang out from the congregation as the happy couple were declared man and wife.

Billi rose to fame on reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex in 2011, but quit reality TV two years later to run a Bikram yoga studio in Essex.

She started dating the Geordie footballer in the summer of 2013, but they kept their relationship a secret until the following February.

It would prove to be a transformative period for the footballer, who by then was on loan at London club West Ham United, having moved from Newcastle to Liverpool for £35 million.

With Billi’s stabilizing influence playing an important role, the drunken off-field antics that threatened to overshadow a career already hampered by a slew of injuries were curtailed.

The nightclub brawls, drunken nights and off-field assault allegations quickly became a memory as Andy underwent a rebranding of sorts – a change thanks in no small part to his partner.

He even followed her lead by taking up yoga, and in 2019 the footballer credited Billi for helping him change his lifestyle.

“I have no doubt that I was crazy when I was here and was crazy for a few years afterwards,” he told nufc.co.uk.

“But I met my wife, and we now have four children living at home, we have animals, we have responsibilities. There’s no more behavior like it used to be, you know. I was stupid, I was young and I was carried away by the lifestyle I had.

‘Now it’s completely different. I’m actually a father, I’ve grown up and have responsibilities, so… I have a purpose.”
