  • The women of Perth create a decadent treat with McDonald’s favourites

McDonald’s fans have foodies “losing it” to a simple DIY hack that turns an $8 purchase into a gourmet treat.

Janelle and Kate, from Perth, have revealed how to make an inexpensive ice cream cake using soft serve ice cream, chocolate chip cookies and sprinkles.

This McDonald’s “secret” can be used in a variety of ways – including as a budget-friendly hack for kids’ parties, desserts for adults, or just as a sweet treat on a hot day.

The dessert hack involves going to the Macca’s drive-thru and knowing exactly what to order.

The moms said they regularly buy six vanilla ice cream cones, hot fudge, McCafe hot chocolate chip cookies, and french fries.

Janelle and Kate also bring a large storage box, and sprinkles to spice up the dessert.

The moms then put together a decadent meal by placing the vanilla ice cream cones face down, crushing the wafer in the mixture and crumbling the cookie over the treat.

Then they pour hot fudge over the dessert and mix the ingredients together.

“It gets a little messy in the car, but it’s worth it,” the moms said in the short clip.

The Perth mums revealed that the ‘best’ part of their creation was adding some of Macca’s iconic French fries to the mix – creating the perfect mix of sweet and salty.

Janella and Kate use their giant dessert to dip the savory chips in before dipping in with a set of spoons.

Many were divided on the dessert – many claimed it was a “genius” idea.

“Oh my god, that’s great,” said one mother. “My kids will love this.”

“Wow – can’t believe I didn’t think of this first,” wrote another.

“I do this, but I also add some Oreos and M&Ms,” a third said.

But others weren’t so convinced by the budget hack.

‘This is lush! Aside from the fries,” one woman wrote.

“You lost me at the French fries,” another said.
