How active Kate Middleton occupies her children at Easter

While kids across the country have two weeks off at Easter, there’s one family that isn’t likely to pass the time in front of the screen, the Waleses.

Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, were born to active parents, most notably their mother, the Princess of Wales.

Kate has often spoken about the importance of activity, exercise and being outside, which she believes are most important for young children. Indeed, her work in early s development has led her to explore the benefits of the outdoors for young people.

The princess has also revealed how she and her family have fun together playing sports with her “competitive” children, and that she manages to play sports with them in the mornings before school term.

Even when the family is inside, Kate and William make sure they have fun but educational activities like baking.

The Princess of Wales is known as an active mother who emphasizes the importance of the outdoors for children. So how will the Wales family spend their free time over the Easter holidays? As part of the Princess’ work in early childhood development, she emphasizes the importance of ensuring that children spend time outdoors.

In 2019, when she unveiled her ‘Back to Nature’ garden on display at the Chelsea Flower Show, the mother-of-three said: ‘In recent years I’ve focused a lot of my work on the early years, and how important they are for results later in life.

“I believe spending time away from home when we are young can play a role in laying the foundations for children to become happy, healthy adults.”

And while Kate certainly does what she preaches, her kids seem to have naturally inherited her love of the outdoors.

Earlier this month, she revealed how her youngest son, Louis, asks to play in the yard after school almost every day, having started in September.

During a visit to a therapy garden at a rehabilitation center in Wales, Kate revealed that Louis enjoys spending time away from home. She said, “Louis comes home and says, ‘I need to get my energy out.'”

As well as enjoying time in the garden at home, the children of Wales also reportedly enjoy quality time outside during the school day.

Speaking about their school on the Lorraine show last September as the children started the academic year, Roya Nikkhah, editor of the Sunday Times Royal, said the school in Windsor offered a different educational experience compared to schools in London.

She said: ‘The Cambridges want their children to have a different kind of education.

“It was a nice first day of school for them… it’s the first time all three of them are at school together.

“This is very different, it’s all part of the big move to Windsor. It’s a great school.’

And when they’re out, Kate has previously hinted at the activities they do, revealing what sports the kids love.

On a visit to the England wheelchair rugby team following their World Cup victory in January, she told the players: ‘We are always a bit competitive with each other. They all like sports and Louis loves rugby. They’re at an age where they love to run around.’

She also revealed that she likes to join her kids when they play sports. The mother of three said, “I do it all: when I can exercise, I do, even jumping on the trampoline with the kids before school.”

In 2021, to mark their 10th wedding anniversary, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a video on their Instagram page that gave royal fans a glimpse into their active outdoor family life.

Among the activities, which were filmed at Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, were marshmallow roasting on a campfire outside the house, playing on a seesaw and chasing each other around the grounds.

The family was also photographed walking as the children frolicked on the Norfolk coast, all wrapped up to protect against windy conditions.

Prince William has previously spoken of the family’s love of Norfolk and how it has come to feel ‘like home’ to them, thanks to the development of the area by his grandfather, Prince Philip.

He said: ‘For me, coming here and living here now, everything he’s done has led to Catherine and I feel like this is part of the country we want to be in. We love this area, it feels like home, and that’s because of what he’s made.’

The family love Sandringham so much that they chose to remain confined to Anmer Hall, where the children could no doubt run about as much as they wanted on the land.

However, the Wales family didn’t spend the entire lockdown outdoors and managed to take a day trip to a pottery studio in King’s Lynn in August 2020 when businesses reopened. Elle reported.

Another fun day trip the couple took was a visit to the Burnham Market Horse Trials fair in 2019.

The Princess of Wales was pictured with Prince George and Princess Charlotte as the family teamed up with their cousins, Mia and Lena Tindall.

The children enjoyed a ride in a bumper car together and were pictured clucking as they crashed into each other.

Prince George even picked up a souvenir, lining up for the ride while carrying an intricately decorated plastic sword.

While the Prince and Princess of Wales like to encourage their children to spend as much time outside as possible, they also understand the importance of indoor family activities.

Ahead of celebrating the late Queen Elizabeth’s platinum anniversary last year, the Princess of Wales was busy in the kitchen with her three children, in a video posted to her Instagram account featuring a slideshow of photos.

While the family made a batch of cupcakes to hand out at a street party in Cardiff, photos showed the children helping their mum ice cream the sweet treats with a piping bag.

Prince Louis looked lost in concentration as he was pictured sifting flour for the cakes, while Charlotte and George supervised their little brother as he used the stand mixer.

When the cakes were finished, the children looked super proud of their creation and Charlotte gave her mother a winning smile
