Houston Texans minority owner Javier Loya ‘facing rape and sexual assault allegations’

According to reports, Javier Loya, owner of a minority stake in Houston Texans, is facing multiple charges of sexual assault.

The former college football player faces one charge of first-degree rape, five charges of first-degree sexual assault and one charge of third-degree sexual assault in Kentucky, according to court documents, via ESPN.

He reportedly pleaded not guilty on May 15 and posted $50,000 bail. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for August 22.

The incident allegedly occurred earlier this year when he was arraigned in Jefferson County Circuit Court on May 10.

“We are aware of the serious charges filed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky against Javier Loya, one of our outside limited partners,” the Texans said in a statement.

“We have agreed with Mr. Loya that while these charges are pending, he will withdraw completely from any team or league activity.”

The 53-year-old, who is a co-founder of OTC Global Holding, bought a minority stake in the franchise in 2002, the first season.

“The club immediately notified the league of the serious pending charges against Mr. Loya after they were filed,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement.

‘Mr. Loya is not permitted to participate in any league or club activity during this process. He is no longer on competition committees.’
