HBO’s House of the Dragon concluded its second season with its season finale on Sunday night, largely disappointing fans.

The 70-minute finale, titled The Queen Who Ever Was, failed to deliver the spectacle that many Game of Thrones fans expected from season finales.

Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustrations about the episode, ultimately setting the tone for what many hoped would be an exciting third season… albeit a lackluster ending.

While there were some surprising moments — including a bold move from Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and a shockingly unknown Iron Throne — many were left disappointed.

“WHERE IS THE REST OF THE EPISODE????” tweeted @ashx_s0ul, along with a photo of a cat and the caption, “Sobbing in Valyrian.”

The first season ended with the shocking deal of Rhaenyra Targaryn’s (Emma D’Arcy) son Lucerys by Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), setting the tone for the “war” to come.

Fans still didn’t get to see much real fighting action in Season 2, which is the main reason why many were disappointed.

@helloChanti tweeted, ‘S1 ended with preparation for war. S2 ended with preparation for war. WHERE IS THE WAR? I WANT WAR #HouseOfTheDragon Ep8.’

@Mr_Forrest_Pump complained almost an hour into the episode: ’55 minutes… no action… just gum disease.’

@CallieJo93 added: ‘#HouseOfThedragon The lamest finale I’ve ever seen. Now we have to wait two years. Yawn.’

The series debuted in 2022 and was quickly renewed for a second season, but fans had to wait almost two years for the second season.

It’s unclear what the production timeline is for Season 3, but if it takes another two years before production can take place, fans clearly won’t be happy.
