House GOP opens investigation into rape and murder of woman, 20, by ‘MS-13 gang member’

Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee have launched an investigation into the rape and murder of a 20-year-old autistic woman by an alleged MS-13 gang member who was arrested at the US-Mexico border as unaccompanied minor.
Criticizing the ‘open border policies’ of the Biden administrations, US Representatives Jim Jordan and Tom McClintok demanded that the Department of Health and Human Services answer for the death of Kayla Hamilton of Aberdeen, Maryland.
Police said she was raped and strangled to death on July 27, 2022, and police arrested a 17-year-old undocumented boy last month for the murder, saying he is suspected of being a member of the deadly gang MS-13. .
A letter written Tuesday to HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra by House Republicans expressed outrage that the suspect had been arrested while crossing the border but was released into the custody of his aunt in Frederick, Maryland, 45 miles to the West Baltimore.
“The Biden administration’s open border policies have created vulnerabilities that foreign criminals and gang members exploit to the detriment of American citizens,” Jordan and McClintock wrote.
Kayla Hamilton, 20, of Aberdeen, Maryland, was allegedly raped and murdered by a suspected MS-13 gang member, who had previously been arrested at the border as an unaccompanied minor.
US representatives Jim Jordan (left) and Tom McClintok (right) are now demanding that the Department of Health and Human Services office of refugees answer why the suspect was released in Maryland into the custody of his aunt despite the red flag of his alleged gang affiliation.
The Aberdeen Police Department said Hamilton had just moved to the city to live with her boyfriend of 22 years before his gruesome murder, which also came just three days after her birthday.
Officers had been called to a mobile home in Rancho Estates by a suspected cardiac arrest victim, but found Hamilton’s body instead.
Aberdeen’s chief medical examiner said he died by strangulation and detectives found DNA at the crime scene matching that of the 17-year-old suspected gang member, who has yet to be identified.
He was arrested on January 15, 2023 in Edgewood, and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement noted that he was listed on Salvadoran records as a member of the MS-13 gang. foxnews reports.
Tammy Nobles, Hamilton’s mother, said she was heartbroken by the tragedy that befell her autistic daughter and confused why the suspect was allowed near her.
“We have to process his loss, but we also have to process what happened to him,” he told Fox.
She added that she was proud that her daughter was moving to live independently and asked for the maximum sentence available to the suspect, asking officials not to try him as a minor.
Nobles also demanded answers about why the suspect was arrested and turned over to his aunt when he was caught crossing the border illegally.
I don’t know where it came from. I don’t know how she got here or how he ended up in the same area as her,” he said.
Tammy Nobles, the mother of Kayla Hamilton, said she was heartbroken by her daughter’s death and wanted answers about the circumstances involving the suspect.
Nobles told police that her daughter (right), who is autistic, wanted to live independently and had recently moved in with her boyfriend and celebrated her 20th birthday before her death.
Police said the young woman was raped and then strangled to death.
That’s the key question Jordan and McClintock are asking the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement, which is tasked with the care and location of children apprehended by US Customs and Border Protection.
The Republican Party representatives are asking HHS to turn over all information about the teen’s case, including his family reunification package and all documents provided by the border agencies that apprehended and processed the suspect.
Jordan and McClintock also demanded that HHS provide a detailed explanation of how it verified the suspect’s age, his relationship to his aunt, and his status as a member of the MS-13 gang.
The congressmen said that Becerra had until March 13 to deliver the requested material.
HHS did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
Along with the letter, Jordan directly criticized Biden in a tweet criticizing his alleged inaction amid reports on the impacts of the border crisis.
Summarizing the news, Jordan wrote: “Unaccompanied alien minors doing brutal work across the country. MS 13 gang member kills Maryland woman. Fentanyl is smuggled across the border.
“But for whatever reason, Joe Biden continues to ignore the border crisis.”
The GOP outrage in the case comes as the number of immigrants caught crossing the southern border illegally has reportedly hit a million in less than four months of the fiscal year, and is on track to break records.
As of last Friday, there have been a total of 1,008,217 migrant encounters at the southern border since October, the start of the fiscal year, multiple Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Fox News reports.
CBP sources said there are early signs that February numbers have dropped and could drop below 150,000 compared to last February, which hit 166,000 migrant encounters. But there is concern that the numbers could pick up again in the spring, which often happens, with record crosses.

Republicans, who regained control of the House of Representatives in 2022, have already begun to examine how to deal with the border crisis.
In his State of the Union address, Biden addressed the situation and referred to it as a bipartisan issue.
“America’s border problems will not be fixed until Congress acts,” Biden said.
Biden has been heavily criticized for his inaction on the issue.
Last week, the Biden administration announced a new rule that would automatically make illegal immigrants who passed through another country without applying for asylum ineligible for asylum in the United States.
