BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island discs

Desert Island Discs is a radio program broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

It was first broadcast on the BBC Forces program on January 29, 1942.

Each week, a guest, dubbed ‘castaway’ during the program, is asked to choose eight recordings – usually, but not always, music -, a book, and a luxury item they would take with them if they were tossed out in a desert. island, as they discuss their lives and the reasons for their choices.
