House of Dragon’s Emma D’arcy sets TikTok alight by revealing negroni sbagliato is favourite drink

Their role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s hit drama House of Dragon made them famous overnight.

But in the past five days, Emma D’arcy’s drink of choice has really gotten fans talking on TikTok.

Earlier this week, the 30-year-old non-binary actor – who uses pronouns – shared their favorite cocktail is a negroni sbagliato during a discussion with Olivia Cooke, 28, in a promotion video for the series.

Sbagliato means ‘wrong’ or ‘broken’ in Italian, which is a reference to replacing sparkling wine with the gin in a traditional Negroni.

Since the clip was posted to HBO’s TikTok account on Monday, the clip has been viewed more than 9.4 million times and intrigued to try Emma’s drink for herself — with one joke that it “cured” their depression.

In a quick round of questions, Olivia – who plays Alicent Hightower in the Game of Thrones prequel – asked Emma what drink they reach for on a night out.

“Negroni,” Emma said, to which Olivia interrupted excitedly, “I wanted to say the same thing!”

When she finished her answer, the actor added, hiding a smile, “Sbagliato.”

They then explained that the cocktail is very similar to a normal negroni – which is a mix of gin, vermouth and Campari – but is topped off with a splash of prosecco.

Impressed by their choice, Olivia added, “Oh stunning!”

Since the clip went viral on the app, a number of TikTok users have shared their methods of making the drink.

In a video that has racked up more than 774,000 likes, cocktail lover Nic Hamilton filmed how he made the potion himself – which he says was “one of the easiest” tutorials he’s ever done.

He said, ‘I’ve always loved a negroni sbagliato.

“Until about a week ago, every time I ordered one, the whole table went, ‘oh you pretty man, what’s that?’

‘And I’d go,’ yes I’m a chic man – it’s a negroni sbagliato with prosecco in it.

“Everyone would go, ‘Oh Nick – you’re amazing.’ I don’t have that anymore, right?!’

Meanwhile, lifestyle TikToker @join_jules agreed that the cocktail was ‘super easy’ to make.

After Jules mixed the vermouth and Campari, Jules topped the mixture with ice and prosecco.

Jules finished with a traditional orange slice and was raving about how the cocktail came about.

She took her first sip and said, “Oh yes. Cheers!’

In the meantime, TiToker Mary Glover posted a 15-second video showing her take on the popular drink.

She captioned the clip: ‘All I want is Emma D’Arcy’s voice and Negroni Sbagliato on repeat…’

Meanwhile in conversation with the guardHenry Jeffreys, drinks writer and author of the Cocktail Dictionary, said the drink originally came about by accident.

He said: ‘Apparently the bartender was supposed to make a negroni, take the wrong bottle and put prosecco instead of gin, so ‘sbagliato’ means confused, or wrong in Italian’.

After the clip went viral, Emma admitted they were mortified that the interview had become an online meme.

In an interview with the New York TimesEmma said, “I feel so ashamed because in those interviews, when we’re on it for six hours, I honestly only try Olivia [Cooke] laugh.’

The actor added: “I keep thinking I should tell my mom I’ve become a meme in the hopes that she’ll be happy for me, but I’d have to explain what a meme is, and I’ve decided it’s a meme. too much effort. ‘

You can even make Emma’s favorite drink while tuning into House of the Dragon at home, using an equal 1:1:1 ratio and a few ingredients.
