The creative team behind the Game Of Thrones prequel series House Of The Dragon has been shaken up with the departure of executive producer Jocelyn Diaz.
Deadline announced on Sunday that Diaz will not return for the second season of the hit series.
Diaz’s departure comes after executive producer – and co-showrunner – Miguel Sapochnik also left the series.
Behind the scenes commotion: The Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon received another creative shakeup with the departure of EP Jocelyn Diaz, Deadline reported Monday
According to sources who spoke to the publication, Diaz – who is described as a non-writing executive producer – was only on a one-year contract with an option to stay for a second season, but that is no longer being exercised.
The change appears to have been relatively recent as it was initially said she would continue with the series once Sapochnik’s departure was announced, along with Sara Hess and Vince Gerardis.
Sapochnik has a first-look deal with HBO, so his ties to the network will remain, and he will be credited as an EP throughout the series.
The report indicates that co-creator and executive producer Ryan Condal is reforming the House Of The Dragon creative team ahead of season two after becoming sole showrunner with Sapochnik’s departure.
He co-created the series with George RR Martin, who is also executive producer of the unfinished series of novels that inspired the original Game Of Thrones series.

It’s unclear why the series’ producers are doing musical chairs, and the feedback for the prequel series has been mostly positive so far.
Critics have mostly praised the show so far and viewers are strong for a premium cable series, which wouldn’t suggest that the formula should be shaken up.
According to VarietyHouse Of The Dragon now averages 29 million viewers per episode from episode five, which also saw an impressive three percent increase from the previous week.

To counter the losses in the series, Game Of Thrones veteran Alan Taylor will join the prequel as both an EP and a director.
Set 172 years prior to the events of Game Of Thrones, the dark fantasy series recently made a big time jump.
The action shifted a full decade, requiring a newer generation of older actors to replace younger versions of the characters.
Emma D’Arcy has now taken over the role of Princess Rhaenyra from Milly Alcock, while Ready Player One star Olivia Cooke replaces Emily Carey as Alicent Hightower.
