The skies over Kent lit up with explosions and searchlights last night as the Blitz was recreated for a new film.

The new film is directed by Oscar winner Steve McQueen and appears to be high budget based on the spectacular stunts on display.

Chatham Dockyard was transformed into 1940s London for the night scenes filmed under the cover of darkness.

But any hope of filming under the radar was made impossible by the dramatic content being filmed.

Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen recreated London in 1940 to show the intense bombing campaign waged by Nazi Germany.

The film will follow a variety of Londoners throughout 1940 and 1941 as they navigate restrictions during the Blitz.

Flames were seen shooting into the sky as filming took place under the cover of darkness last night in Kent.

The film is called Blitz and is about the intense bombing campaign waged by Nazi Germany against the United Kingdom during World War II.

Apple TV is making the picture and it will tell the story of a group of London natives in the midst of air raid during the international conflict, Variety reported.

The war movie is McQueen’s first feature film since the 2018 film Widows.

The bright yellow and orange burst lit up the night sky, drawing the attention of people living nearby to the footage.

Dazzling searchlights were shot into the black night skies as cameramen filmed scenes for the new movie.

This aerial shot showed the spotlights and explosions occurring at the same time that the film was continuing its development.

Although it is thought that it will be released later this year, with a date not yet confirmed

Last week the cast was seen filming on Roupell Street near Waterloo Station, which has been featured in hundreds of movies, TV shows and advertisements as it has hardly changed since the workers’ cottages were built in XIX century.

The production will soon move to the Thames in Wapping, east London, where residents have been warned about the possibility of “audible explosions” when special effects crews simulate bombs hitting water.

Paul Weller is making his big screen acting debut at the age of 64, alongside an adorable tabby cat.
