A young woman whose car plowed into a group of cyclists on a country road, killing one and injuring three others, has died in hospital.
The female motorist, 30, collided with four riders during a cycling race on Long Swamp Road, about 14km south-west of Armidale, in the NSW Northern Tablelands, at 3.30pm on Saturday.
Her car then crashed into a tree, prompting rescuers to cut her loose before the vehicle caught fire.
One man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver and a 14-year-old boy were taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in critical conditions.
The woman, who was trapped in the wreckage of her car before being freed, died in hospital on Sunday.
Two other cyclists – aged 57 and 39 – were treated by paramedics before being taken to Armidale Hospital with various injuries.
The three hospitalized cyclists are all now in stable conditions.
All riders were members of the Armidale Cycling Club and took part in a 20 mile gravel club race.

A member of the local cycling community described the man as a ‘dear friend, a fellow competitor for many years and a mentor to many’ who will be ‘sadly missed.’
“A great loss for such a close-knit community and family of small-town cyclists,” he said.
“My heart goes out to everyone involved in today’s accident and the families of those involved.”
Former club chairman Mark Bullen described the deceased cyclist as an ‘absolutely wonderful man’.
“I’ve had conversations with some of the people who are there and they’re probably at a loss for words at the moment,” he told the ABC.
“It has devastated the community and it will continue for a long time.
‘Once you become a cyclist, you become part of a family and that family is there for everyone.’
The police will prepare a report for the coroner.
