It appeared the cyclist was riding at high speed across the median strip of a busy highway when the accident occurred.
Footage from a dashboard camera has been posted on social media showing the car driving over the double white lines on the road and colliding with the speeding motorcycle.
The car’s front bumper fell off, throwing the motorcyclist through the air.

Footage of the crash has sparked debate online, with many pointing to the mistakes of both drivers.
Some commentators believe the car is at fault, as it crossed a solid line and did not appear to be paying attention to its surroundings.
“It is illegal to cross a double/double yellow line, especially if you are leaving a carpool lane with specific entrances and exits! The car is 100 percent at fault,” one person said.
