Horror as man plunges to his death from clifftop picnic spot in lunchtime tragedy

A man has died after plunging into water 20 meters from the top of a popular cliff in a horror incident.

Emergency services were called to a picnic area on Duckholes Trail, in Terrey Hills, about 30 kilometers north of Sydney, about 12.30pm on Friday.

The body of the man, believed to be in his forties, was recovered from the water by police.

He has yet to be identified.

A crime has been committed and the investigation into the incident has begun.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
