Horror fans launch campaign to revive popular slasher series that was canceled after three seasons

Horror fans were distraught when Chucky was canceled last month after three seasons on Syfy and USA Network.

However, there may be some hope for the beloved slasher series thanks to a fan-driven campaign that is gaining traction online.

Since the show was canceled, fans have been using the #SaveChucky hashtag on X, formerly Twitter, and have been able to get the term trending several times.

A number of stars from the show also shared the hashtag, including Jennifer Tilly and Devon Sawa, along with Child’s Play creator Don Mancini.

Chucky star Fiona Dourif recently teased that there’s a chance the series could be saved by another network.

“What we’re hoping to do at this point and what should happen and what would be normal for a show as successful as Chucky has been – because the ratings were very good and extremely well reviewed; the numbers were great at Peacock – is that it would be marketed to other networks,” she said at Terror Con, as reported by Bloody disgusting.

“The extent to which pressure can be put on those in power to make that happen, I think everyone involved in making the show would appreciate that. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be marketed to other networks.”

Creator Mancini has already hinted at a Chucky comeback, recently posting on X, “He’s coming back!”

Tilly, who first appeared in the franchise in Bride Of Chucky (1998), took to Instagram to share her sadness over last month’s cancellation news.

“I’m sorry to announce that the TV series Chucky has just been canceled. Go to the light Tiffany, go to the light…,” she wrote.

Tilly, who reprized her role as Tiffany Valentine and played herself in the horror series, thanked fans for their support in an X-post.

“So sad to announce that after three wonderful seasons, the television series ‘Chucky’ has finally been canceled,” the 66-year-old actress began.

“First of all, I think of our fans, who managed to keep the #RenewChucky hashtag trending for MONTHS! Without your loyalty and tenacity, Chucky would never have survived for thirty years!

‘We are really proud of our show. It was an amazing wonder to work with this talented cast and crew.

“We were fortunate to have the leadership of our brilliant captain Don Mancini,” she added, before revealing that she too believed Chucky was down, but not out yet.

“But (to quote Call of Duty) we are down but not out,” Tilly declared. “Resurrections are Chucky’s specialties and he has a lot of them!”

She ended the post by promoting the three seasons, which are considered the eighth main installment of the Child’s Play franchise and are available to stream on Peacock.

Devon Sawa, 46, who has played several characters throughout the show’s three seasons, also sounded confident that the franchise will return in the future.

‘CHUCKY NEVER ENDS!! …He just comes back to life,” Sawa stated.

‘I said it once and I’ll say it again: this series was one of the most fun I’ve ever photographed. I’m sad, but excited to see where it goes. TEAR.’
