Horror as human head washes up on Florida beach

Officials in Florida launched an investigation Tuesday after a human head washed up on Key Biscayne, south of Miami Beach.

Miami-Dade police said they received a call around 8:30 a.m. from an employee reporting the discovery near the 251 block of Crandon Boulevard.

Officers said the worker was raking the beach when he found the head.

Authorities confirmed it belonged to a person and part of the beach was cordoned off with yellow police tape for investigation.

Aerial footage showed officials at the scene examining the remains, which were covered in blue tarpaulin and surrounded by traffic cones.

The discovery comes a month after the body of a 31-year-old model was found floating near Key Biscayne after she drowned while partying on a yacht.

In that incident, a police report indicated that the model, Adriana Vieria, had joined a group for a swim around 8:30 PM on September 21 before they warned her to return to the boat due to the presence of a jellyfish.

The young woman remained in the water and was found floating near Biscayne Bay ten minutes later.

She was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead an hour later.

Vieria and her ex-husband had reportedly fled Brazil after being involved in a multi-million dollar scam.
