A 38-year-old woman has died after falling at the Buenos Aires hospital where she worked after undergoing a colonoscopy.

Brenda Berges was admitted to Domingo Mercante Hospital on May 13 and was anesthetized as required by procedural guideline.

Berges was still under the effects of the anesthesia when she was placed on a stretcher that had no guardrail.

She was in her room trying to move in the gurney when she fell to the floor.

One of her friends told local online news channel Diario Efecto that staff at Domingo Mercante Hospital kept her family in the dark before contacting them.

Buenos Aires’ Health Ministry told La Nación newspaper that it was investigating the incident.
