Horror as extreme eater, 24, DIES during livestream of 10-hour binge after her stomach bursts open

A 24-year-old livestreamer who was a heavy eater died while broadcasting a 10-hour binge on cake, chicken nuggets and seafood to thousands of her followers.

Pan Xiaoting of China died last week from a suspected stomach rupture while eating 10 kilograms of food, including what appeared to be chocolate cake.

The autopsy results showed that her stomach was severely deformed and full of undigested food. This could indicate that her stomach had burst, causing stomach acid and food to leak into her abdomen.

Xiaoting – who was morbidly obese – rose to fame in China through her Mukbang livestreams, a trend in which people eat huge amounts of usually very unhealthy food on camera that originated in South Korea.

Now doctors are warning that influencers in the West are next, as several content creators in the US have become wildly popular.

One of the most famous content creators is Nicholas Perry, better known as Nikocado Avocado to his 3.8 million followers on YouTube.

The 32-year-old Pennsylvania man has become a multimillionaire by filming himself eating an unimaginable amount of food and documenting his weight gain in bizarre videos.

In 2017, he began filming himself eating massive amounts of ramen or a stack of pancakes at IHOP, but now he often eats more than 10,000 calories live on camera in videos with titles like “I Hate Myself, Goodbye YouTube and Life” and “Celebrating Our 700-Pound Milestone,” which feature a friend.

He currently weighs a reported 350 pounds. He began his journey around 2016 weighing around 160 pounds.

Another YouTube sensation is Hungry Fat Chick, or Candy Godiva, who has become a household name in the mukbang video scene with over 280,000 YouTube subscribers. Her net worth hovers around $1 million.

Dr Andrew Harris, a senior lecturer in psychology at Nottingham Trent University in the UK, said: ‘Mukbang videos revolve around consumption and excess, potentially reinforcing a cycle of overeating or unhealthy relationships with food.’

While China has a blanket ban on mukbang videos, that doesn’t stop content creators from live streaming their binge videos.

Pan Xiaoting was livestreaming her 10-hour food marathon on July 14 when she collapsed. Viewers reportedly tried to offer help remotely, but it wasn’t enough.

She had recently been admitted to hospital with a stomach hemorrhage, but it is unclear how long ago she was discharged.

When she died, most of the food she had eaten was undigested and still in her stomach.

If you have had stomach bleeding in the past, you are more likely to develop other serious stomach and intestinal problems in the future.

Few details are known about her death outside of China, but there are several ways in which continuously consuming large amounts of food can kill a person.

If you eat that much, the stomach can tear due to excessive stretching.

Eating a large amount of food can also cause the stomach to expand and swell, which can compress surrounding blood vessels and put pressure on the heart, increasing the risk of cardiac arrest.

It can also cause a serious electrolyte imbalance, which can have serious consequences for the heart.

The appeal of mukbang videos originally arose as a way to make people feel less lonely, especially when eating alone.

Dr Harris said: ‘Some research suggests that watching mukbang videos can alleviate feelings of loneliness by providing a sense of social connection or camaraderie, but other research suggests that excessive viewing of these videos may actually worsen loneliness by replacing deeper real-life social interactions with more superficial virtual ones.’

But according to dietitian Katie Lopez, it has now become a horrific expression of gluttony and self-harm.

She told DailyMail.com: ‘Sadly this is yet another example of the glorification of self-harm behaviour.

‘More specifically, these people are at risk for gastric perforation, significant elevations in glucose and lipids, acid-base disturbances, electrolyte imbalances, dehydration, and cardiac arrhythmias.’

According to Dr. Harris, seeing people gorging on unhealthy food can reinforce unhealthy eating habits. He says the videos “are about consumption and indulgence, potentially reinforcing a cycle of overeating or unhealthy relationships with food.”
