Horror as barefoot man is found hanged inside subway tunnel under New York City’s Grand Central Station

A man was found hanged in a subway tunnel near Manhattan’s Grand Central Station early Saturday morning, police said.

Officers said the unidentified man, who was barefoot, was discovered hanging by a wire from his neck about 100 feet away in the tunnel of the No. 7 train.

He was found by MTA employees around 5:15 a.m. and was said to be unconscious and unresponsive before being pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials noted that there is no criminality involved in the incident and that it appears to be a suicide.

Gruesome images, purportedly of the man’s body, were shared on social media, attracting a large number of views.

It was alleged that the man was hanging in the tunnel, barefoot but fully clothed, as NYPD Emergency Service United officers stood by to place him in a body bag.
