A seemingly innocent request for clues turned deadly after an Atlanta man was shot multiple times.

Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred on October 5, 2023, around 1 a.m. A 23-year-old man was shot multiple times after asking two unknown men for directions.

At the time, officers responded to 275 Ted Turner Drive in southwest Atlanta in reference to a person shot.

When they arrived, they found the man alive and conscious after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined that the victim had approached two suspects to ask them for the location of the nearest grocery store.

After giving the victim directions, the suspects followed him and attempted to commit a robbery. A physical altercation ensued between the three men, during which the victim was shot multiple times.

He was rushed to hospital, where his condition was stable.

Police are still investigating the situation and are asking public health to identify the perpetrators.

The shooting occurred nearly a year before a decorated Atlanta police officer was fatally shot by his neighbor during a bizarre burglary incident.

Aubree Horton, 32, a veteran investigator with the Atlanta Police Fugitive Unit, was found with gunshot wounds at his neighbor’s home on Oct. 4 in Winston.

Preliminary research suggests he may have been experiencing a “mental episode or was under the influence of narcotics” at the time.

‘This person was able to enter the home and was confronted by the homeowner.

‘The homeowner shot this person in his home in self-defense. The shot was fatal and the subject died at the scene,” the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Days before his death, Horton had been named

Days before his death, Horton had been named “Investigator of the Year” at the Atlanta Police Foundation’s annual Crime is Toast ceremony.
