A 12-year-old girl walking home from school was approached by two thugs on a moped who ripped the chain off her neck before dragging her down a sidewalk in New York City.
The gruesome attack happened in broad daylight on Oct. 24 in the 42-63 Layton Street area of Elmhurst, Queens, around 4:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesperson told DailyMail.com.
The disturbing video – which the NYPD released Monday – shows the young girl walking down the street alone when the two men slowly pull towards her from behind.
One of the thugs bends over and pulls the chain off her neck as the other starts accelerating, dragging her down the concrete sidewalk.
The young victim who reported the incident to the police has not been admitted to hospital, a police spokesman said.
It was the first of at least seven robberies linked to the same moped thieves who have terrorized the borough in recent weeks, officials said.

The chain-snatching duo has struck multiple times and are still on the run as police try to track them down.

On October 26, they attacked four different people on the same day.
At the first attack a 37-year-old woman was punched in the face and had her chain ripped from her neck at 34th Avenue and 103rd Street in the North Corona neighborhood around 2:20 p.m.
Ten minutes later, a 43-year-old woman walking on 31st Avenue and 76th Street in Jackson Heights was pushed to the ground before the bandits grabbed two chains from her neck.
At 7 p.m., the duo struck again, ambushing a 52-year-old man walking at 75th Street and Woodside Avenue in the Elmhurst neighborhood. After the attack, both men fled.
At 7:50 p.m., a 35-year-old woman had her necklace pulled from her neck at 73rd Street and 35th Avenue in Jackson Heights, in what would have been the fourth robbery that day. msn reported.
The next day, the robbers hit the Elmhurst neighborhood again. This time around 3 p.m., they pulled a chain off the neck of a 70-year-old woman near 77th Street and 34th Avenue.
Their most recent robbery was on November 7 at Penrod Street and Otis Avenue in the Corona neighborhood. A 48-year-old woman was walking around at around 12:45 a.m. when the men stole her necklace and fled.
