This is the tragic moment when an 18-year-old pregnant girl in Brazil was run over by a van, killing her and the baby she was expecting, along with her 20-year-old husband, who was injured.
The haunting video footage shows Gabriela Oliveira and Leonardo Santos walking down a sidewalk on their way home in São Paulo’s Itaim Paulista town when they were attacked on Monday.
A Volkswagen van was traveling in the left lane when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and skidded down the sidewalk.
Santos could be seen trying to block Oliveira before the vehicle crashed into the pair.

Bystanders immediately rushed to try to save them. Oliveira seemed to be trapped between the wall of a building and the van.
According to authorities, the driver experienced mechanical problems with the van on Sunday.
However, it is unknown whether the problem has been fixed.
Brazilian news channel SBT News reported that Santos sent audio messages to his brother from the scene of the accident, telling him he was concerned about Oliveira.
“The (van) ran over us. The rescuers are helping us here, but I don’t know how she is now, because they took me away from her. So I wanted to let you know, okay?’ he said.

Gabriela Oliveira had a miscarriage last year and lost a child
Santos also told his brother that paramedics assured him that Oliveira was fine before they were taken to Santa Marcelina Hospital.
“But they say she’s fine, her heartbeat is under control. It (vehicle) lost control and hit us on the sidewalk. We were already on our way home. That’s all I remember. When I woke up, she was lying there on the floor. I’m really worried, brother.’
Oliveira suffered a heart attack and died in the medical facility.
Santos suffered fractures to both his legs and his back.
Oliveira and Santos had been married for just over a year and were expecting their first child, Ravi Lucca.
She had miscarried last year and lost her baby.
