A restaurant goer in New York City was outraged after seeing a rat in the window of an establishment, ironically sitting next to an ‘A’ health inspection sign.
The large rodent was spotted scurrying around Dixon Place on Saturday evening, sitting next to the droppings in front of the decorated top-level health sign.
The theater, located on Chrystie Street in downtown Manhattan, received an “A” grade for sanitation from the Department of Health.
In addition to the play area, the building has a fully equipped bar.
In the horrifying clip, a woman tapped the glass to see if the rat moved, as its long brown tail was fully visible on the wooden edge.
The animal then quickly jumped away behind the sanitation sign, before poking its head out to the other side and seeing the women on the street facing it.

The rat is clearly scared or shocked at having been caught and then jumps off the edge onto the floor in the theater, rustling a potted plant as it comes down.

Dixon Place’s most recent violation occurred in May 2019, when the department found that “the food contact surface has not been properly washed, rinsed and disinfected after each use and activity where contamination may have occurred.”
The theater also had three violations before this: one in 2018 and two in 2017.
Dixon Place is a non-profit venue with a full liquor license, and the lounge is open for performances.
It is described as a “cosy, custom-designed lounge with recycled wood paneling on the walls, custom stained glass foyer artwork by Joseph Cavalieri, antique Persian rugs and a custom-designed bar by Michael Howett.”
The theater serves cocktails for $13, which art lovers can bring into the audience while watching performances.

After watching the disturbing clip, many people joked about the rat spotted in the window.
One person wrote: ‘He’s the inspector,’ while another said: ‘That’s the chef!’
A third person joked: “That’s just the ratatouille guy, he’s cold.”
While another chimed in: ”A’ stands for ‘A very bad review.’
“He works hard to keep the place clean!” said another social media user, while others joked that this is just like any other place in New York City due to the excessive amount of rats on the loose.
One person added: “If that’s an AI, I don’t want to know what the others look like.”
According to the Ministry of Health, all Class A establishments must seal all cracks, crevices and holes in walls, cupboards and doors to prevent the entry of rodents, cockroaches and flies.
They are instructed to install rodent-proof door sweeps on exterior doors and store food and waste in pest-proof containers.
Businesses that want an A grade must “remove grease, oil and food particles from all surfaces and equipment, including the floor below, and contract with a pest controller licensed to work in restaurants.”
