A shocking new video has been released showing the moment Florida police dragged a seriously injured elderly man into an elevator after being shot in 2022.
The horrible clip, which was obtained by local 10, shows Hollywood cops pushing David Cottes, 69, into elevators after he asked neighbors to call 911 because he thought a robbery was taking place inside his apartment building.
The incident occurred on February 26, 2022, at around 8 a.m. Cottes had his licensed firearm on him when he was shot by responding officers.
After being shot when officers arrived on the 14th floor of Alexandra Towers, Cottes, the president of the condominium board, was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries just over three weeks later.

Speaking to Local 10 after viewing the footage, Christina Cottes, the victim’s daughter, said: “He said someone was in his apartment, in his condo, he came out with his licensed-to-carry gun and everything.”
She described her father as her ‘best friend’ while asking: ‘Why would they treat him like that or drag him into an elevator, they already have him handcuffed behind his back? He’s hurt.
Christina said her family was prohibited by police from visiting Cottes at Memorial Regional Hospital before his death.
An investigator hired by Cottes’ family, Victor Elbeze, said: “It’s been a year waiting for forensic and ballistic evidence because they want to see who shot first.”
The incident is still being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
At the time of the incident, residents of Cottes’ confirmed to local 10 that the victim had a license to carry a weapon.
A video uploaded to social networks of the moment in which a neighbor reacted with horror when she realized that it was Cottes who was injured.
In the comments section under Cottes’ obituary, his next-door neighbors wrote: “We were shocked to learn this… We couldn’t even imagine what happened… The Dave we knew was a gentle soul… That his memory be a blessing.
Cottes, who was the president of the condominium association, asked neighbors to call 911 because he believed a break-in was in progress.

The shooting was described as ‘isolated’ at the time. All references to the shooting have been removed from the Hollywood Police Department’s Facebook page.
On the day of the shooting, the Hollywood Police Department said in a statement that officers shot a gunman in the building, but did not specify the identity. The press release said that no officers were injured during the incident.

The day after the shooting, the miami herald reported that the man shot by police was the same man who called 911. The newspaper said in its report that officers “attended” to the wounded man’s wounds before taking him to the hospital.
According to his obituary, Cottes was a native of the Bronx in New York City, a Navy veteran and director of Consumer Affairs at the New York City Department of Finance.
Retiring in 2014, she devoted herself to her dogs, Merlot and Romeo, while also developing an interest in food, travel, boating, and a healthy lifestyle. He was survived by his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The tribute mentions that Cottes predeceased his wife, Rosanne.
