Horrifying moment driver mows down Jewish mothers and baby in stroller
Terrifying footage captured the moment two Jewish mothers and a baby were hit by a car as they walked through an intersection in New York City.
Two women, ages 62 and 56, along with a 1-year-old boy, were injured Tuesday afternoon after they were struck by a reckless driver as they crossed Nostrand Avenue at Kings Highway in Brooklyn, StreetsBlog NYC reports this.
Around 2.45pm on Tuesday afternoon, two women pushing strollers, one holding a child’s hand, were captured on video as they began to cross the road. The signal ahead clearly indicated that it should have been safe to walk.
But within seconds, a black 2014 Toyota minivan refused to slow at the red light and made a right turn directly toward them.
Gruesome footage was captured of the moment the women tried to scramble away when they realized the SUV was coming, but unfortunately couldn’t get out of the way in time.
The 69-year-old driver of the car rammed into the group, causing the two mothers and one of the strollers to end up on the ground and under the car.
The second stroller was seen rolling through the remainder of the intersection, while a young girl appeared to run back into the frame and back to the safety of the sidewalk.
Emergency workers took the injured to Maimonides Medical Center, where they were reported to be in stable condition. The Times Of Israel reports this.
Horrifying video captured the moment a reckless driver failed to yield at a Brooklyn intersection and rammed two Jewish mothers and a one-year-old boy in a stroller as they crossed the road
The driver remained at the scene and the three injured were taken to hospital in stable condition
Although it appeared unclear why the car turned directly toward the women from the eastbound Kings Highway without yielding, the driver remained at the scene after the collision.
The area where the incident occurred has a large Jewish population and the intersection itself is next to the Kingsway Jewish Center – an Orthodox synagogue.
The footage was originally shared by the website Betar – a global Zionist organization – which claimed the driver was committing a hate crime against Jews.
But the NYPD noted that there was no “criminal or malicious intent” and that the driver “was apologetic.”
Deputy Chief Richie Taylor, the NYPD’s top Orthodox Jewish officer, told The Times of Israel that the clash was the result of “extreme inattention.”
“We don’t see anything about crime,” Taylor added.
The 69-year-old driver was not arrested.
Just hours later, another crash in the same neighborhood – this one fatal – killed a 64-year-old man who was reportedly begging at the intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Linden Boulevard.

That same evening around 7:30 p.m., Michael Foster, 64, was hit by a speeding white Audi sedan and dragged for half a mile. Hoodline reported.
The driver then fled, leaving Foster to die in the street.
Paramedics arrived shortly after the incident but pronounced Foster dead at the scene.
The search for the driver is still ongoing as police urge the public to report any information that could lead to an arrest.
