This is the horrific moment a Mercedes driver plowed into a crowd in New York City on New Year's Eve, injuring at least eight people, including two police officers and a Marvel actress.
Mohamed Alaouie, 44, has been charged with attempted murder after going on a rampage while driving on the wrong side of the road near Madison Square Garden, reported WABC.
In a new video, the Mercedes is seen backing into a barrier, then crashing into a Halal cart and then onto the sidewalk as pedestrians try to flee. The footage shows at least one woman trapped under the food cart.
Among those injured in the crash is Black Panther actress Carrie Bernans, 29, who shared photos of her horrific injuries on Instagram.
Bernans was walking on the sidewalk with a friend when the car crashed into a food truck she was standing next to, knocking her unconscious and pinning her under the stand.

She underwent surgery after suffering serious injuries, including broken bones, fractures and chipped teeth, her family said.
In an Instagram update to her mother, she said: “She is still in so much pain and can't answer calls at the moment, but I appreciate the messages. This was a traumatic incident.”
“Please keep Carrie in your thoughts and prayers. She is in so much pain, but healing. She was involved in a traumatic incident in New York where a man in his early 40s tried to escape a collision and ran into several cars before crashing into a food stand that she and her friend were walking near. She eventually became unconscious and ended up under the bleachers. She was underneath it and didn't know what happened.'
“She has a few broken bones, fractures and chipped teeth, but I thank God she is alive,” she said.
Police were called to the scene around 1:40 a.m. local time as crowds near Times Square were said to have left after watching the ball drop to ring in 2024.

Photos from the scene appear to show three cars involved in the wreck, two black cars and a yellow taxi. While a video showed a man being carried away and appearing to be conscious.
Alaoie reportedly got into an argument with his 34-year-old girlfriend in his car.
The incident began when police intervened in the altercation as Alaouie then tried to run from the scene.
The vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and struck citizens and officers before coming to a stop.

The horrific crash occurred just a few blocks from where a million people watched the famous ball drop
He also reportedly hit a parked, unoccupied pickup truck and a Toyota Camry, which in turn was pushed into a Ford van, as well as several marked police cars, police said. The New York Post.
Alaois reportedly has 10 previous arrests for drug-related rapes and criminal possession of stolen property.
According to CBS NewsA large quantity of crack cocaine was found in the 44-year-old's car.
