Horrifying moment Brazil woman, 49, falls off of a mini Ferris wheel, slams into an iron bar and dies in front of shocked onlookers
Disturbing video footage captured the moment a woman fell fatally from a Ferris wheel at a restaurant in Brazil on Sunday
Maria do Carmo could be seen sitting on one of the ride's metal benches and talking to a group on the ground as a man spun the manually operated carnival ride.
The 49-year-old then fell face down and hit her chest against one of the iron bars of the steering wheel.
After her fall, Do Carmo went into cardiac arrest and received emergency care from a nearby nurse.
Firefighters arrived on scene, used a defibrillator and performed CPR in an attempt to revive her before paramedics pronounced her dead.
Maria do Carmo died on Sunday after falling from a manually operated Ferris wheel at a restaurant in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Maria do Carmo is seen sitting on a metal bench at the top of the Ferris wheel before a man (bottom left) spun the fairground ride, which was designed for children between 5 and 10 years old.
Authorities have closed access to the Ferris wheel, which is located in a restaurant's playground.
There is a sign on the Ferris wheel site indicating that it is only accessible to people between the ages of 5 and 10.
Iury Vieira, one of the restaurant's owners, told the Brazilian news outlet G1 that each Ferris wheel bench had a safety lock and other device to prevent falls, but only for children.
The restaurant has been open for nine years and has a valid operating permit and permit issued by the fire brigade.
However, the fire brigade said it was not their duty to inspect the Ferris wheel.
Authorities in Minas Gerais, Brazil, have closed access to the manual Ferris wheel. One of the owners of the restaurant where the fairground attraction is located acknowledged that they did not have a permit to operate it

Lieutenant Matheus Viol said the restaurant's owners and technical manager were liable to ensure the Ferris wheel was inspected by the Minas Gerais Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy.
Vieira acknowledged that they did not have an operating permit for the Ferris wheel and playground.
He was unloading goods at the restaurant and his father was at the cash register when Do Cormo took the fatal fall.
“We didn't actually see her actually fall off the handlebars,” Vieira said. 'A man was with her and called me to the restaurant. Then I saw that she had fallen to the ground.'
