Horrifying moment a California woman is dragged by a purse-snatcher in broad daylight

Shocking video from Southern California shows the moment a woman was dragged across the ground by a man who tried to take her purse from her.

The incident happened Monday afternoon in the Hacienda Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles when a man grabbed the victim’s bag and started pulling.

Video shows the man forcibly dragging the woman several feet across a parking lot outside a Bank of America, as bystanders rush in to help the woman.

“It’s scary to see that,” says Jose Rafoya, a local resident. “Maybe it’s your aunt, your grandmother. I come here with my wife, my little child and you never know.’

According to police, the woman suffered only minor injuries in the incident. The unknown suspect managed to escape and has not been apprehended.

The sickening robbery took place at around 11:30 a.m. Monday at the corner of Azusa Avenue and Pepper Brook Way, police said.

The woman is dragged on camera for at least five seconds and an unknown length off camera before the thief can finally take the woman’s bag.

At one point, while the woman is still clutching her purse, the man pulls so hard that the woman is lifted off the ground.

The victim’s head hits the hard sidewalk as the suspect continues to pull.

The video shows two men rushing in to help the woman and chasing the suspect who is caught fleeing in the opposite direction after jacking up the wallet.

As a man quickly runs after the suspect, a third person enters the frame and leans back to check on the woman still lying on the floor.

The suspect escaped with the woman’s handbag.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told local media they are using the video in hopes of tracking down the attacker.

Residents say they are on high alert and more worried than ever.

“It’s incredible because it’s daylight,” says Raphael Contreras, a local. “Frankly, you hear about these crimes at night. Now it’s just broad daylight. There is a market there, there are children, there are businesses around. It’s crazy.’

“It’s heartbreaking,” said Nick Liang, another resident.

“I don’t want that to happen to anyone. I have been robbed before and I know that feeling of my personal items being stolen. It’s not a good feeling,” he added.

“I hope that lady can recover from her loss,” Liang continued.

The latest robbery occurred just hours before a robbery in another LA neighborhood where a 40-year-old woman was stabbed.

That incident also took place in broad daylight and a suspect has been arrested.

The woman was taken to hospital in an unknown condition.

Residents say they feel crime is “out of control” all over LA.

“It’s heartbreaking,” said Nick Liang, another resident
