A woman has made a series of stomach-churning discoveries after raiding her grandmother’s pantry full of expired food.
TikTok creator Karinne, passing by @monogamy96 online, took her followers on an adventure to the pantry and was shocked to find items from 1999.
“You guys, so I got curious about my grandma’s house and wanted to check how much expired food she had left,” Karinne wrote in the overlay on the video.
In a voiceover, she begins, “I’m going to check the dates and see how old this stuff is. Because this is ridiculous.

“You guys, so I got curious about my grandma’s house and wanted to check how much expired food she had left,” she wrote while documenting the adventure
“You see, my grandmother got food, but if you eat any of this stuff, you can die. No limit,” the TikToker later added.
First up: a tub of Pillsbury’s ‘Creamy Surprise’ cream cheese frosting. Expiration date? December 27, 2014.
Karinne said she had “never seen this before.”
The product, it turned out, had expired in April 2000—in the last months of the Clinton administration.
A can of Italian-style breadcrumbs arrived relatively tasty four and a half years after their best-before date and had expired in March 2019.
Next was a can of sliced pears in syrup, with an expiration date of 2002.
“This was before many of you were even born,” Karinne joked.
Another can, this one with Ocean Spray jelly cranberry sauce, turned out to have gone bad on November 12, 2016, in the days following Trump’s election.
‘Oh no,’ Karinne exclaimed, holding up a jar of homemade candied pears, which had a handwritten label indicating its origin in September 1999.
Karinne mustered up the nerve to smell the brown mud in the jar right away, which made her sway even more violently.

“Oh no,” exclaimed Karinne, holding up a clear glass jar of homemade pickled pears, the handwritten label of which dates the culinary creation to September 1999.
That’s the same month Law & Order: SVU – now in its 24th season – made its series premiere.
“There’s no way anyone could eat this,” a shocked Karine added.
“First of all, where are the pears?” she continued, inspecting the contents of the jar, which appeared to be little more than a homogeneous brown mush.
No doubt out of morbid curiosity, Karinne decided to open the 24-year-old pear preserves.
As she unscrewed a lid, she began gagging from the smell almost immediately, simultaneously displaying the clumpy pear sludge to the camera.
She then mustered up the guts to sniff the pot directly, after which she immediately began to hoist even more violently.
“It smells like death,” she admitted.
Even a safe distance from the homemade pear preserves, many commentators apparently had to suppress their disgust at seeing the nearly quarter-century-old concoction hit the fresh air for the first time since the late 20th century.
“Why she said she was going to smell it and I put my shirt over my nose like I was going to smell it too!” one wrote, while the other agreed, “I’m gagging here like I’m in the pantry too.”

There were mixed reactions to the discoveries Karinne made in her grandmother’s pantry
Others shared similar experiences digging into the closets and pantries of older relatives.
“My grandma has Jello 321 from about 1991,” said one viewer.
“My friend’s grandmother passed away last year and went through her canned goods in the basement!!! 80s and 90s!!!!! My boyfriend ate the jelly and I can’t believe he’s still with us,” a second confessed.
“My papaya has Tylenol in his closet from 1996, which he refuses to throw out in case he ‘needs’ it,” a third moaned.
“I cleaned out my grandmother’s pantry in 1999 while she was on vacation. She had canned goods that expired in 1986,” someone else repeated.
Meanwhile, some TikTok users couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease when comparing their own age to the various expired goods Karinne had on display.
“I’m older than all this stuff,” one wrote, and another added, “The pears are nine months older than me.”
A third person mused, “I was 9 when she got those pears… I’m 34 now.”
There were many more who poked fun at the time capsule stash Karinne’s grandmother had collected over the years.
“That’s not a pantry…it’s a museum,” one joked, and another agreed, “Girl, she ain’t got no food, she’s got artifacts.”
