Horrified husband finds his lifeless wife half EATEN by a 16ft python
A horrified husband found his lifeless wife half-eaten by a giant 16-foot python, prompting angry locals to track down and kill the snake.
Hapsah, 57, was on a rubber plantation in Indonesia’s Muaro Jambi regency when the snake, lying in the tall grass, attacked her on August 27.
The 16ft snake easily overpowered the struggling little woman and wrapped itself around her body, slowly squeezing the breath from her lungs until she passed out.
Hapsah’s husband M Safri, 66, who worked on the same plantation, went looking for his wife when she did not come home that afternoon.
He heard a rustling in the undergrowth and was shocked to see that the reptile had wrapped itself around its beloved, about to swallow her whole.
A group of vengeful residents later arrived at the scene to hunt down and kill the python
A grandmother was found half-eaten by a 5-metre mammoth python while working on a farm in Indonesia
Sungai Gelam police chief Iptu Usaha Sitepu said: “As he got closer to the source of the sound, he saw that the victim had been strangled by a python and was about to be swallowed head first.
“He knew she was already dead, so all he could do was pull on the snake’s tail and hit it until it released its grip.”
Safri said he ran back to the village to call for help in moving Hapsah’s body.
A group of vengeful locals later arrived at the scene to hunt down the python. They found it burrowing around the roots of a tree and mercilessly beat it to death.
Village head Amdi said: ‘Hapsah was almost swallowed whole by the snake, with only half of her body left to devour when her husband managed to free her. After the snake escaped, residents immediately went looking for it and killed it. It was a huge snake. It was brought to the village to be shown to the community after it was killed.’
A grieving Safri took Hapsah’s body home to make preparations for her burial.
He said, “I would have returned from the plantation earlier, but if I had known my wife would be attacked in this way, I would have stayed to protect her.”
The 5-meter long snake easily overpowered the struggling, small woman and wrapped itself around her body
On August 14, another grandmother was killed and eaten by a python.
Maga, 74, was grazing with her cows in a wooded area in the Sumarambu Mountains, about a mile from her home in the town of Palopo in South Sulawesi province, when she was attacked by a python.
Her son, Sanaria, 39, went into the woods to look for her when she didn’t come home, only to find her half-swallowed by the reptile.
The villagers later killed the python and took the mutilated body home as a trophy.
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where it lives in forests, swamps, canals, and even cities, bringing it into conflict with humans. The species is one of the largest snakes in the world and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats, and other snakes.
