Terrifying moment hooded man tried to get into BBC actress’ car at set of traffic lights in London in shocking two-minute ordeal

This is the horrifying moment a man repeatedly tries to force his way into an actress’ car as she shouts at him to get away from her.

In a sickening video recorded in central London, the man is seen with a toothy grin as he repeatedly pulls on her door in an attempt to get in.

While wearing a black puffer jacket and using a gray hoodie in an attempt to mask his face, at one point he waves his hand and appears to laugh as the clearly terrified woman yells at him to leave.

He then places his second hand on her car as he continues his attack with more force – continuing to try to open the car for a full two minutes at 10.30pm at the junction between Dock Street and the A1203, near the Tower of London.

And Shanika Ocean, who posted the video to warn other women to lock their doors while driving, says she called the police but they wouldn’t come out – instead offering her an interview next week .

The actress, who starred in Netflix’s You and BBC hit Silent Witness, said: ‘I can’t really remember what happened next – somehow I managed to swerve around him and drive away.

“Obviously it’s just a horrible, horrible experience. Make sure you lock your car doors. London is not safe at all.

‘You can’t walk outside with your phone because it will probably be stolen by these guys on electric bikes. Make sure your car doors are locked because there will be lunatics coming in and trying to get into your car.

‘I wasn’t even going to call the police, but I thought, no, I should, because of course this could happen to someone else tonight. I said I had a video of him, I have a description and they said oh okay, we’ll set up a meeting next week and then you can discuss it because he was doing gun gestures.

‘There are no police, this man is still hiding there. For everyone, make sure you lock your car doors.

‘And especially women, if you’re driving alone – London is just not safe at all anymore and I’m literally like – thank God my doors were locked. I dread to think what would have happened if that hadn’t been the case.’

The horrific incident comes amid a wave of crime on London’s lawless streets – with Ms Ocean saying that just weeks earlier a man on an e-bike had tried to take her phone as she walked down the street.

Ms Ocean said she had to stop at a red light when the man approached her car and started making ‘weird signals’ with his hands.

She says she ignored him even when he made gun signs and told her to roll down the window.

And she claims that when he couldn’t get in through the front, he pushed his way around her car, trying to get in through the back door.

The terrifying attack happened when she was stuck and unable to get any further as she drove onto a busy main road.

And even when the lights changed and she was finally able to escape, he ran in front of her car – trying to stop her from getting away.

On social media, friends rushed to share their horror as they watched the terrifying scene.

One, Patrice Monique, said: ‘This made me so angry. It remains tiring to live in this city.

‘The whole country is a joke. Still glad you’re doing well’

Another, Samuel James, continued: ‘We live in dangerous times, the good thing is that the door was locked. Pay attention to your safety.’

A third, Kya Garwood, added: “Sorry to hear that. Glad you’re safe, he’s crazy, you can see it!!

“Forward it and engage the Mayor of London who escalated this crime. The police don’t care.’

And Roseanna Brown said: ‘I’m so sorry this happened to you, but I’m so glad you’re safe.

“I hope more people see this video so they stay aware and also stay safe, this shouldn’t be something that even happens!!!”

It comes as new pressure has been put on Mr Khan with the release of yet more grim figures, which saw a new spike in knife and gun-related crime last year.

A total of 14,626 knife offenses were recorded in the capital last year – an average of 40 per day, a fifth more than in 2022.

There was also an increase in gun crime, with 1,208 crimes recorded in 2023 – an increase of more than 200 compared to the previous year.

Many have placed the blame squarely on Mr Khan, with Police Minister Chris Philp blaming a drop in stops and searches.

The use of stop and search powers by US police has fallen by 44 percent over the past two years, while the number of subsequent arrests has fallen by 28 percent.

The mayor has been a critic of the tactic and has previously pledged to do “everything in my power to further reduce its use” over concerns it targeted ethnic minorities.

The Met and City of London police forces have been contacted for comment.
