Honey Boo Boo, 18, reveals plans to start a family with boyfriend Dralin, 21 – as her sisters weigh in on whether they believe he is ‘The One’
Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Shannon has revealed that while her boyfriend Dralin Carswell would like to have multiple children, she is hesitant when it comes to starting a family.
The popular reality TV star, 18, currently lives with her 21-year-old partner while studying for her degree in neonatal nursing at a university in Denver.
Although the couple’s relationship only seems to be going from strength to strength since she first went public in 2021, Alana admitted that she has mixed feelings about becoming a mother.
“He wants kids and I don’t want kids,” she told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.
“I told him that when I was done with school and all that, it was time to talk about kids. I definitely don’t want children while I’m at school.’

As for how many children she would like to have in the future, the teenager added: ‘I told him, ‘I can meet you halfway and we can have one.’ One and done, that’s all.’
The world-famous teen rose to fame as a child on Toddlers And Tiaras before she and her family launched their own TLC reality show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, in 2012.
But even though the TV star has graduated high school and is on her way to college, fans are often shocked to discover that she is an adult and has been in a serious relationship for years.
When Alana made things Instagram official with Dralin in September 2021, trolls were quick to criticize the pair’s relationship.
Some took issue with the three-year age difference, while others seemed to disapprove of her decision to date a black man.
At the time, the star was forced to disable comments on the post, which she later deleted from her account.
Alana spoke candidly about the backlash, saying simply, “I’m not here to change anyone’s mind about how you feel about Dralin.
‘But from working with him, I know personally that he is a good man, that he takes care of me and makes sure that I am straight. I love him, I’m happy with him, so that’s all that matters.’

Alana told DailyMail.com that she is still hesitant when it comes to starting a family and admitted that she has mixed feelings about having children in the future
She continued, “I think it’s important that we’re an interracial couple.”
Her sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird added, “I feel like people have their opinions, and they will always have their own opinions.”
In 2023, Dralin was arrested for drunk driving after a police chase while Alana was in the car
Alana added, “Everyone hated the fact that I had a black man… If people were as worried about their lives as they are about us, they’d probably be somewhere in life.”
In July 2023, Alana was accepted to Regis University in Denver to earn her degree in Nursing.
However, Dralin’s legal troubles forced the star to consider whether she should move to Colorado without him to avoid losing her $21,000 college scholarship.
Dralin’s legal situation has been a storyline on the show since he allegedly drove while intoxicated in February 2023 and spent two days in the Monroe County Jail before being released on a $25,000 bond.
Despite the ongoing legal issue, Alana emphasized that Dralin has remained a great partner who motivates her.
“He just takes care of me,” she said. ‘He makes sure my head is straight. ‘If I get a bad grade at school, he says, ‘What are you doing that for? You have to go there. You need to go into that room and study!”

She continued, “Or tell me to do an assignment that’s done. He says, ‘Why are we going to get something to eat? We have to be at home to carry out that assignment.’
“So he was just very supportive, very loving and caring and always there for me. He’s my friend and my best friend.’
Her family explained that the pair have been inseparable since they started dating and that they now see Dralin as a member of the family.
Pumpkin said, “Dralin is great. His whole family is amazing…I feel like Dralin has just become one of us over the last four years.”
Her sister Jessica added: “He’s just there. When you see Alana, you see Dralin.”
Alana’s sisters and mother claimed they believe Dralin is ‘The One’, but Alana remained more coy as she replied: ‘I’m not sure, I hope so.’
