Homes Under The Hammer’s Martel Maxwell reveals a man crashed into her during a skiing accident in Austria after Gwyneth Paltrow won her legal fight

Homes Under The Hammer star Martel Maxwell has revealed that she was involved in a skiing accident while on holiday in the Austrian Alps.

The 46-year-old television presenter recalled the terrifying experience in the aftermath of Gwyneth Paltrow’s trial for a skiing accident in which she was involved in 2016.

Martel recounted how a man at the top of the slope collided with her after she lost control on the slopes.

Write in a Scottish newspaper the courier service, Martel said: ‘Fortunately no one was hurt. The man who collided with me was coming from the top of the slope (the person below had the right of way), lost control and crashed into me.

“The scariest part was hurtling with him into a hard fall, but (aside from a bruised leg) everything was thankfully fine.

“Skiing conditions that afternoon were quite tricky as the sun melted the snow and I think he just lost control after his skis hit the mud.”

The announcer added that the man apologized and checked that she was okay, which he thanked.

Martel has been presenting Homes Under The Hammer since 2017, while previously also serving as a reporter on ITV’s Lorraine and BBC’s The One Show.

It comes after Gwyneth won her four-year legal fight against retired optometrist Terry Sanderson over a skiing accident in 2016.

The jury in Park City dramatically declared she was not at fault for the 2016 accident that Sanderson said left him with four broken ribs and permanent brain damage.

Moments after the jury returned their verdict siding with her, Paltrow was seen walking up to Sanderson and saying, “I wish you the best.”

Moments later, he released a statement via his Instagram stories saying, “I felt that accepting a false claim compromised my integrity.”

“I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and I appreciate their kindness in handling this case.”

Outside court, his attorney Stephen Owens said: “We are pleased with the outcome and appreciate the judge and jury’s careful handling of the case.”

“Gwyneth has a history of standing up for what she believes in, this situation was no different and she will continue to stand up for what is right.”

On Thursday, the jury found Sanderson, 76, “100 percent” at fault for the accident at the luxury Utah ski resort seven years ago, after taking just two hours and 20 minutes to reach a verdict.

Paltrow, the 50-year-old founder of the luxury wellness brand Goop, is worth $200 million and won an Oscar for her role in Shakespeare in Love.

His adversary, Sanderson, 76, is a retired twice-divorced optometrist from Utah whose net worth is unknown.
