- The LAPD has launched an investigation into the death tragedy
A one-year-old homeless girl was tragically found dead Friday morning near Los Angeles International Airport.
Emergency responders rushed to a bus stop near the airport entrance shortly before 9:40 a.m. after reports of a “medical emergency,” Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
She reportedly went into cardiac arrest, but details about how the child lost her life were not provided by investigators.
The caller, whose relationship to the child is unclear, attempted CPR until the LAFD arrived to take over, but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
She was reportedly homeless along with her mother and sister, who are now in the custody of officials while her mother is questioned about the incident.

The child went into cardiac arrest, with her mother, who was also homeless, reportedly admitting that she gave the child Benadryl the night before because she was fussy.
Officials took the deceased girl's sister into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services, while officials questioned the mother
Although the tragic death remains under investigation, officials said they found “nothing egregious” about the incident, police said Los Angeles Times.
The girl's mother reportedly told KNX News she was heartbroken over the loss but did not know how she died.
She said the child was fussy Thursday night, so she gave her a small amount of Benadryl.
The mother, who has not been named, said she and her daughters had been homeless since June, but she was afraid to seek help if her children were taken from her.
Journalist Steve Gregory said on X that after it was discovered that the entire mother and her two daughters were homeless, the surviving daughter was taken into the custody of the LA County Department of Children and Family Services.
The LAPD's Abused Child Unit has been assigned to conduct the investigation into the death, officials said.
