Homecoming horror as high school student and her DJ boyfriend are found dead on way to dance

A high school senior and her older DJ boyfriend were found fatally shot while apparently on their way to a homecoming dance.

Dashayla Ardoin, 17, of Mamou, Louisiana, was found dead along with her boyfriend, 21-year-old Glenkeithan Robertson, of Opelousas, by Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies on Saturday around 7 p.m.

It is believed they were on their way to homecoming festivities at Mamou High School, where Ardoin was a student, when they were killed.

“From the investigation, this case is believed to be a murder-suicide,” the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on social media Monday.

Sheriff KP Gibson told People Deputies believe Robertson was the shooter, but he would not comment on any possible motive.

It is believed the couple was heading to homecoming festivities at Mamou High School, where Ardoin was a senior.

A witness to the shooting described how the couple pulled up in a truck before hearing gunshots.

“There’s a truck coming across the street all the time, literally every day,” said Austin Bellard told KLFY.

“It wasn’t a truck I normally see, but it didn’t look out of place either.

“They stopped and I heard a couple gunshots, I didn’t really think anything of it,” Bellard said.

But he said he then rushed to see what had happened, telling the local news station: ‘I don’t want to tell you what I saw. It wasn’t good.’

“Dashayla will always be remembered for her courage and bravery, her kind heart and her beautiful smile,” it said.

“She was so loved and will be deeply missed.”

One person on Facebook also identified Ardoin as her cousin, writing, “Man she doesn’t deserve that, she can’t even graduate and enjoy her life because of some selfish mf.

“I never want to love someone where I want to take me and your life.”

“God put your arms around my family because I can’t even understand this one, she just beat cancer!!” wrote the cousin. ‘And to have [your] taken life as [that] isn’t right.’

Friends and family took to social media to remember Robertson, saying he was an up-and-coming DJ

Robertson’s Facebook page shows he was a local DJ, and tributes poured in for the emerging talent.

“I kept praying it wasn’t the truth,” Parker wrote Reagan about hearing the news. ‘I was pacing back and forth trying to get myself under control because I had work to do.

‘All DJs, young and old, respected this man because he did his thing every time!!!!!’ he wrote, describing Robertson as his “go to man for everything.”

“We could call each other for anything and best assume we could get it done.

“I’m so in disbelief because the child was destined for greatness, you hear me?”

Brantasia Duffy, who identified Robertson as her cousin, also wrote that she couldn’t sleep.

‘I can’t stand the fact that he[‘s] really gone,” she wrote on his profile.

‘This [is] you didn’t sit well with me at all, but you got your wings.

“I’m so sorry, I wish I could have saved you. I wish you would have called and talked to me,” Duffy said.

An aunt also wrote that he was “and was loved by everyone he came into contact with,” as she begged the community not to condemn her cousin.

He had shared a photo of him and Ardoin about two months ago, with the caption: “Me and you against the world.”
