Home invasion in Matraville: Man assaulted, car stolen in Sydney’s east

An elderly man was attacked in his own home before his car was stolen in Sydney’s east.

Just after 11.10pm on Sunday, police were called to Jersey Street, Matraville, following reports of a burglary.

A 65-year-old woman was confronted by two men while another man assaulted her 70-year-old partner, causing head and hand injuries.

After the attack, the men stole the keys to a blue Subaru XV, which they used to flee the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 70-year-old man at the scene before transporting him to the Prince of Wales Hospital. He is in a stable condition.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to call Eastern Beaches Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
