Home Depot launches new Halloween décor to complement beloved giant skeleton

Home Depot shoppers who own the $299 12-foot Giant-Sized Skelly can now purchase a 7-foot skeleton dog to go with it.

The home improvement store is selling a brand new one Skelly’s 7-foot dog to go along with his famous Giant Skelly this Halloween season.

The 5×7 skeletal animal has a movable tail and jaw, and Halloween revelers can keep it indoors or outdoors.

Skelly’s Dog has been flying off the shelves since Home Depot released it, and the price of the product starts at $199.

Home Depot’s seven-foot-long skeleton dog is one of several Halloween-themed products the chain released more than two months ahead of the spooky holiday.

Despite selling Halloween-themed products since 2013, Home Depot reached new heights online after the release of its 12-foot-tall skeleton in 2020.

“For Skelly, we knew from the moment we tasted it that we had created one of the best Halloween items ever,” said Lance Allen, Senior Merchant of Decorative Holiday, in a 2023 press release.

It was only a matter of time for Home Depot to add a 7-foot Skelly Dog to its Halloween collection, describing it online as the “perfect best friend” for the 10-foot Skelly.

Like the viral Skelly, Home Depot’s 7-foot Skelly’s Dog comes with eight different LCD backlit eye settings that the customer can choose from with a remote control.

However, unlike the 3.5 meter long skeleton, it only takes one person about 30 minutes to set up.

The product’s popularity has continued to increase since its initial release and is now offered on more than one resale website, including eBay.

Shoppers who want to buy it on eBay instead can do so if they want to spend somewhere in between $240 and $600.

The average rating for Skelly’s Dog is just over four stars, and several reviewers criticized the product for various reasons.

Several social media users were excited about the 7-foot skeleton dog, but product buyers were concerned

‘I gave 4 stars because the spine/body doesn’t fit or click together exactly. I will make some adjustments so the wires are better protected,” one customer wrote.

“It’s super cute, but really poorly produced,” one shopper wrote in his two-star review.

“It was quite a job to put together because the pre-drilled holes were almost never aligned properly or were missing altogether.”

Shoppers who rated the product five stars said the opposite. and one person claimed it looked great and was ‘easy to put together’.

“If you’ve got Skelly, you’ve got to have his best friend! Easy installation and multiple eye features,” one customer wrote.

“Everyone stops to look at them and take pictures. Highly recommend picking up Skelly’s dog.’
