Home and Away star Matt Evans slammed for ‘creepy’ social media stunt after he followed a woman in a park and asked her to get in his car

Home and Away actor Matt Evans has been criticised for a ‘creepy’ stunt he pulled on social media.

The 27-year-old former Voice star recently shared a video on Instagram in which he revealed that he was going to play his new song Better to Forget to a random fan after inviting them into his car to listen to it.

“Okay, we’re going to look around and see if we can find someone to play my new song for. I’ve never done this before, hopefully someone will listen,” Matt told his fans.

He was then seen driving to a Sydney park and asking a woman walking on the pavement if she wanted to get into his car.

“Hey, excuse me, would you like to come sit in my car and listen to a new song of mine?” Matt said.

“No, thank you. But good luck,” the woman replied immediately, before quickly walking away.

Matt felt red and told his fans he would never do that again, admitting: ‘I’m so embarrassed about it’.

Angry fans quickly took to the comments to criticize Evans for his inappropriate request.

“She didn’t want to be in your car. STRANGER!” one fan snapped, while a second added, “You probably scared the hell out of her.”

However, one fan pointed out that the stunt seemed fake: “People think it’s real and not staged. It’s his friend,” and Evans confirmed that they were “acting” in the clip.

Matt began his career in show business by singing songs on season nine of The Voice Australia in 2020.

Matt rose to fame on the reality singing competition as a member of Team Delta, before teaming up with Janie Gordon as a duo.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph about his first acting role, Matt told the newspaper that he was ‘learning as he went’.

“I went into it with a clean slate and I’m learning so much every day,” he said.
