Home And Away star Tammin Sursok has shared a candid update on her mental health after a rough few weeks.
The Australian actress, who lives in Nashville with her family, recently had to deal with a hurricane just days after her eldest daughter’s school was closed during the shooting at The Covenant school.
The 39-year-old posted on Instagram on Sunday admitting she’s been feeling down lately, writing: “I don’t know about you, but between the news and the social media highlights, I’m not feeling it. I feel stuck, lost and irritated.”
Tammin explained that as a mental health advocate, it was her duty to share the methods she uses to save herself from a funk.
One of her tips was spending time with people you love, exercising to release endorphins, and having compassion for yourself.

She also suggested that fans pigeonhole mental health issues by calling them a “season.”
“Accept the season you are in. Label it. This is my reflection season. This is my rest period. This is my season of healing. When you have a name, you know it’s finite,” she explained.
Tammin also pointed out the importance of rest, writing, “Hustle culture is real and we feel that if we don’t perform on a daily basis, we’re worthless. This is such a dangerous cycle. Our bodies need to rest to recover in order to get the best out of ourselves.’

She also advised fans not to consume “junk” foods because “they make us feel better and then drop us lower than before.”
“Nourish your body with warming foods. Soups, stews, oatmeal, etc. These foods help increase the chemicals to feel good throughout the day,” she said.
And finally, she warned fans to delete sources of negativity on social media.

Last Saturday, Tammin (pictured with husband Sean McEwen and their two daughters) revealed that her family had been placed under tornado surveillance as severe storms swept through Tennessee
At the time, Tammin posted on Instagram Stories filming herself sitting on the couch at night worrying about the tornado, while her family slept
“Get away from anything that makes you feel less than. Unfollow anyone who doesn’t like what you see in the mirror. Consume content that makes you grow, learn and become a better person,” she wrote.
Tammin concluded her message with an uplifting message: “Know that I am with you. Always DM me. And we have this together. Again, it’s a bad day, not a bad life.’
It’s been quite a month for Tammin.
An hour later, the Pretty Little Liars star took to Instagram with a video of her newly awakened husband setting up a “makeshift tornado shelter” in their guest bathroom

‘But you know what? I’m going to give myself the grace that I should probably be stressed. This week has been a lot. And I’m very proud of myself for not fully unraveling yet. So I’ll be sitting here waiting for tornado sirens,” she added.

She described the ordeal as “too close to home” for many parents in America, where school shootings occur almost every year.
On Wednesday, the concerned mother revealed she had bought bulletproof backpacks for her two daughters.
A day later, she attended an anti-gun rally outside the Tennessee State Capitol.
