It is a painful condition that can make it difficult for women to have children.
‘If you woke up today with another opportunity to add another page to the story of your life, then you owe it to yourself to create the most beautiful story you can imagine,’ she wrote in her lengthy post.
‘You owe it to yourself to find answers – even if it takes 5 years and 4 months of unanswered questions from medical professionals, a lack of fertility, the testing of relationships, grief and an attempt at a sparkling smile to hide the cocktail of confusing emotions throughout it all.’

She then went on to thank her mother for her support throughout her battle with the condition and said she was relived when she finally got a diagnosis.
‘Let your fingers flicker across the keyboard with the moment you woke up in hospital after your laparoscopy and laughed SO HARD when the obstetrician finally told you that you had Stage 2 Endometriosis on your uterus, bowels and both ovaries that your scars nearly burst open with relief on the unwritten pages of your future,’ she wrote.
‘You weren’t ”crazy”.
She then encouraged endometriosis sufferers to share their stories in a bid to help others and raise awareness.
‘Let’s talk about it, write about it, read about it, because there is power in the sharing of our experiences to help others and I am so grateful for the women who shared their experiences with me and pushed me to search for answers while I was flailing around in the dark,’ she said.

According to IVF Australia, endometriosis can affect a women’s chances of falling pregnant.
‘Severe endometriosis can distort the tubes and ovaries and can block the egg’s release by causing scar tissue or cysts. However, while mild endometriosis is, in some cases, associated with infertility, how this happens is not known,’ the organisation states on its website.
However the website stresses that women who suffer from the debilitating condition can still conceive naturally.
