Home and Away star Georgie Parker shares future career plans after revealing her departure from the long-running soap.

Home and Away star Georgie Parker recently announced that she is leaving the show for an extended break to pursue her theater dreams.

And on Tuesday, the actress insisted that the departure is only temporary and that she has no plans to leave the soap opera.

The 58-year-old says she’ll stick around as long as her co-star Ray Meagher, who plays Alf Stewart, stays on the series.

Georgie is taking a seven week break from soap opera and should be gone from the screens in August.

The star, who joined the soap in 2010 replacing Justine Clarke as Ruth ‘Roo’ Stewart, will star in the play, Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica.

Georgie said she was lucky the production got her off the scripts while she went on other artistic ventures.

“I’m lucky that with or with any other TV production I’ve been involved in, I’ve been very lucky to have put it out there, if it’s going to be long term, I need time for plays,” he told Yahoo. .

“Honestly, as long as Ray is there, I wouldn’t leave because my character is his daughter and my story revolves around him,” he said.

‘Channel Seven has always been very generous in letting me do that, and asks [time off]. I just wrote it in my contract,’ he continued.

Georgie is one of Australia’s most beloved stars having appeared in All Saints and A Country Practice.

The star married her husband Steve Worland in 1999 and the couple welcomed daughter Holly in 2000.

The actress told TV Week in April last year that she was feeling the burden of juggling her career and being a new mom at the time.

“I got married and became a mother when I won the first Gold Logie,” she said. “I was torn between many things, it was a very stressful time.

“The struggle I had was that I had never pursued that kind of success, so when I did, I did it more because I wanted the show to succeed.”
