Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou shares details of shocking life-altering injury and the VERY bizarre way it happened

Ada Nicodemou has shared details of the shocking, life-changing injury she suffered and the highly unlikely way it happened.

The 47-year-old Home and Away actress has long been known for her active lifestyle, but has revealed how she had to adjust her exercise regime after suffering a serious injury.

Talking to personal trainer Tiffiny Hall about her Bounce Forward podcastAda admitted that she had developed a hernia in her spine from sneezing.

Ada talked about the unexpected incident and how she was in a lot of pain after injuring her back from a sneeze about a year ago while getting ready to go to the gym.

“I had an injury — don’t laugh — about a year and a half ago I had to sneeze,” she explained to podcast host Tiffiny.

“I woke up at 5 in the morning to go to the gym and I was in my locker room getting changed and I ruptured a disk. I was in so much pain!”

Ada underwent surgery on the injury and permanently damaged a nerve, leaving her with numb feet and unable to run.

“I had to have surgery, I still have numbness on one side of my foot and it will probably never heal properly. I think I damaged a nerve,” she continued.

Speaking to personal trainer Tiffiny Hall on her podcast, Ada admitted that she herniated a disc in her spine after sneezing while getting ready to go to the gym last year.

“But it really made me think about a lot of the things I was doing. I’ve always been fit and I love sports. Now I realise it’s good for my mental health.”

Ada says she now mainly does reformer pilates, instead of her previous intensive fitness regime of boxing, spinning and weightlifting.

“I was a machine, spinning and boxing, all that stuff, and then I started lifting heavy weights. Now I don’t think I’ll ever deadlift again in my life,” she said.

“I can’t run because I’ll break my ankle, because my foot is numb.”

Ada recently found love with her Home and Away co-star James Stewart. News of their romance came to light when they were spotted kissing on Anzac Day.

The duo have known each other since 1998, when they starred together in the short-lived soap series Breakers on Channel Ten, and have both been regulars on Home and Away since 2016.

Ada described her blossoming romance with James as ‘unexpected’ when she broke her silence on their relationship last week.

“Jimmy and I are together, yeah. It’s just started. It’s very recent and very unexpected. I’m super happy. It’s really beautiful,” she said. Stellar Magazine.

She stressed that the fact that Home And Away characters Leah Patterson and Justin Morgan got married on screen was not a sign of a real-life romance.

The wedding episode aired on April 9, but was filmed about six months earlier. Ada emphasized that their “genuine feelings” only came out later.

Ada has permanent numbness in one foot and now does reformer Pilates as her main form of exercise, instead of her previous intensive training regime of weightlifting
