Home and Away producers reveal secrets behind the stunning moment when the fan favorite is blown up by an explosion
Home and Away viewers were stunned when an episode earlier this month showed the fan character, Kyle Shilling, being blown off his feet in a violent explosion.
And now producers have released behind-the-scenes footage revealing the ingenious special effects involved in creating the graphic sequence.
The clip, released on TikTok, shows that the effect of blowing up Kyle was achieved by having the 28-year-old actor use a small trampoline to launch himself into the air.
Gym mats were used to protect Kyle from injury, as the actor then fell through the air and landed on his back.

Meanwhile, a ‘flash’ light effect was used to simulate the bomb explosion.
A large blue screen was also used so that Kyle’s fall could then be “inserted” into a scene of an actual explosion.
Fans took to social media to praise the creators behind the violent scene.
One viewer posted, “This is great to see behind the scenes and how it all works! Thanks for sharing.’
“Oh this is so cool!” another fan gushed.
“So interesting to see how it all comes together behind the scenes,” another viewer added.
Kyle later spoke to 7Life about filming the creepy-looking scene, calling it “hands down the most complete day I’ve ever had when it comes to filming.”

He added, “I’m lucky to have been surrounded by such a great crew and a great director.
It really shows the character’s love for his friends. As an actor, getting the chance to make such a performance is a dream come true.’
In the dramatic Home and Away storyline, Kyle’s character Mali tried to rescue his friends after learning that a bomb was about to devastate Summer Bay.
