Home and Away: How Ziggy Helps Sophie Dillman Find the Positives in Endometriosis

Home and Away star Sophie Dillman reveals how her character Ziggy helps her find the silver lining in suffering from endometriosis.

Sophie Dillman has been open about her struggle with the pain and side effects of endometriosis.

But the 29-year-old actress said she managed to find the rare positives through her portrayal of Ziggy Astoni on Home and Away.

Talking with him herald sun on Saturday, she said Ziggy’s confidence helped her adjust to the symptoms and see herself as a role model for other women.

Sophie Dillman, 29, (pictured) has been open about her struggle with the pain and side effects of endometriosis.

“It was a really difficult adjustment,” the former nurse confessed when discussing her nerves about appearing on television with the extreme swelling her condition caused.

“And then I would keep trying to tell myself that Ziggy would never care how he looks. Ziggy loves herself 100% and that gave me a lot of comfort.

“Secondly, I also think that when I was younger and first suffered from those symptoms, if I had seen someone on TV with the same thing, I would feel seen.”

But the actress said she managed to find the rare positives through her portrayal of Ziggy Astoni on Home and Away.

Dillman went on to say that she hopes her appearance on the small screen “can help a person feel less alone.”

The confession follows rumors that Dillman and his on-screen partner Patrick O’Connor are leaving the show.

A new group photo posted by Lynne McGranger for the upcoming season did not include the couple.

Speaking to the Herald Sun on Saturday, she said Ziggy’s confidence helped her adjust to the symptoms and see herself as a role model for other women.

McGranger, who plays Irene on the Channel Seven show, told fans on her Instagram that the beloved couple filmed their last scenes in August.

The actress was responding to the comments after eagle-eyed followers noticed Dillman and O’Connor were “missing” from the cast photo.

Sharing the image to her stories, McGranger could be seen posing with regulars on the show and newcomer Kyle Shilling, who will play Mali Hudson.
