Hollywood’s ‘Ozempic face’ crisis: Plastic surgeons reveal the celebrities suffering from thinness

It’s the latest beauty fad gone wrong – and the most famous A-lists are being hit the hardest.

Many Hollywood stars, such as Jessica Simpson and Scott Disick, faced accusations this year of having an ‘Ozempic face’ after hitting the red carpet with slimmed-down profiles.

And fans now say there are even more celebrities affected by the look, characterized by sunken eyes, gaunt cheeks and sagging skin.

Katy Perry reignited the ‘Ozempic face’ rumors on Monday after fans said the 40-year-old – who was on the red carpet in Philadelphia – looked ‘skinny’.

And at this year’s Met Gala, some viewers also expressed concern that Jennifer Lopez might appear in Ozempic, saying she looked “very thin.”

Lizzo has also been hit by accusations that she has an Ozempic face, with fans saying her weight loss journey has slimmed down her appearance.

Lizzo and Katy Perry have denied using Ozempic, while Jennifer Lopez has not responded to the allegations.

Dr. Smita Ramanadham, a plastic surgeon in New Jersey, previously told DailyMail.com: ‘The Ozempic face has essentially the same features we see when patients have rapid or regular weight loss.

‘We see a loss of volume in the face, and as we lose fat in the face we see signs such as the cheeks becoming more sunken, sagging skin and a general hollowing out of the facial features.

“Sometimes it can actually make a person look older because the fat on our cheeks gives us a more youthful appearance.”

Some fans have also accused Lizzo of using Ozempic (shown on the left in May 2023 and on the right in November of this year). Lizzo has denied this and said her weight loss is down to exercise and diet

Dr. Sue Decotiis, a weight loss expert who has prescribed Ozempic to thousands of patients, added that weight loss looks more dramatic in people with longer faces because of the way the skin is stretched.

To date, an estimated 15 million people in the US have used Ozempic and similar medications for weight loss, according to estimates.

And of those, two-thirds say the drugs have been “extremely effective” or “effective” in helping them shed some extra pounds.

Topping the recent list of Ozempic facial accusations was Katy Perry, with viewers saying she was now ‘extremely thin’.

The Wide Awake singer has poked fun at suggestions she has used Ozempic, handing out goodie bags containing a mini syringe with the word OzempiKP on it on her 40th birthday in October.

This week she complained on the red carpet that she “hates exercise” but said she has been dancing and swimming more to lose weight.

Sources have also previously suggested that her dramatic transformation is thanks to her husband Orlando Bloom, who is said to have taken over the kitchen.

Lizzo, 36, has repeatedly denied taking Ozempic, saying she instead exercises and eats healthy to lose weight.

Scott Disick shocked the public when he looked emaciated and malnourished in March – prompting some to wonder if he was abusing the weight-loss drug Ozempic.

Jessica Simpson (photo in 2020, left and 2023) also had an Ozempic face, surgeons suggested, because she had more sunken cheeks

Fans have shared their concerns over whether Sharon (pictured left in 2020) is ‘sick’ following her third weight loss after taking the drug Ozempic

She dressed up as a “LizzOzempic” on Halloween, referencing a South Park episode that linked her to the drug, and also shared a TikTok with the caption: “When you finally get Ozempic charges after five months of strength training and a calorie deficit .’

Jennifer Lopez, 55, has not responded to allegations that she used Ozempic, but fans raised concerns about the singer after some said she looked “thin” and “very thin.”

Surgeons who previously reviewed photos of fifteen celebrities who had undergone recent weight loss transformations suggested that more than half – mostly men – had an Ozempic face.

That was harder to tell for women, they said, because they traditionally used fillers more often and covered up blemishes with makeup.

At the top of the list was John Goodman, who, according to the experts, had drastically less facial volume and, as a result, had more loose skin that had formed wrinkles.

Dr. Ramanadham said, “He hasn’t been in the news anywhere on Ozempic, so I don’t know if that’s it…

“But even with just weight loss, you see more lines, more wrinkles and more deflating in his face as he loses weight, compared to when he was heavier and his face was fuller.

“These changes are very typical of overall weight loss, regardless of whether weight-loss medications have been used.”

John, 71, has lost 200 pounds in more than a decade, which he credits to eating smaller portions, walking his dogs daily and, at one point, cutting sugar and alcohol from his diet.

Robbie Williams revealed he lost 25 pounds with Ozempic (left in 2013 and right last year). Surgeons said the more pronounced lines on his face and the hollowing of the cheeks were signs of an Ozempic face.

He hasn’t said he was taking Ozempic, although photos surfaced this month of him at a New York City airport looking particularly thin.

Scott Disick – who is rumored to be on Ozempic – was also on the list, with doctors pointing to the sunken areas under his eyes.

But surgeons said it’s unusual for weight-loss drugs to cause such a dramatic change in his appearance, suggesting other factors may be at play even if he used the drugs aggressively.

They also included Robbie Williams among the Ozempic-faced celebrities, with Dr Ramanadham says, “You see a hollow under the eyes and cheeks and more wrinkles appear due to loss of volume. With Robbie you see the immediate results of weight loss.’

Dr. Sue Decotiis, a weight loss specialist, added: ‘He looks like a completely different person! He has a longer face, which means he certainly looks very drawn from the weight loss.”

The “Angels” star, 50, revealed his 25-pound weight loss last year, saying it was due to “something like Ozempic” and calling the weight loss a “Christmas miracle.”

Among the women, both doctors said Sharon Osbourne, also 71, was the most dramatic example of the Ozempic face — after the star revealed she lost 42 pounds on Ozempic and then “couldn’t stop losing the weight.”

“Her eyes seem more sunken, her cheeks are more hollow,” said Dr. Ramanadham. ‘There is also a significant loss of facial volume and associated increased wrinkles.’

Both also pointed out the nasolabial fold – or line that runs from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth – which they said had become clearer.

Of Jessica, Dr. Jones said, “If you look at the earlier photo, her face is much fuller and has more volume.

“But when I look at the later photo, her eyes and her face are more sunken, her cheeks are not as full. Her face actually looks a bit emaciated, like she’s starving.’

Jessica never said she was taking a weight loss drug, but previously revealed between 2019 and 2020 that she had lost 100 pounds.
