Hollywood star looks unrecognisable as she is spotted mixing with locals at Sydney’s Bondi Markets

Tyra Banks was spotted casually wandering around a trendy Sydney hotspot on Sunday.

The American supermodel and actress stepped out at Bondi Markets where she casually checked out the local goods.

The 51-year-old mingled with locals who didn’t seem to notice they were in the presence of a huge star.

Tyra, who was in Sydney last week, was unrecognizable off duty in a form-fitting black top and black and gray three-quarter tights with a mixed pattern.

She pulled a loose, open shirt over her ensemble and carried a large, floppy leather bag.

Tyra completed her look with a wide, black headband and sunglasses, while she wore a ponytail holder on her wrist.

It comes after the model reflected on her iconic comeback at last year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, almost two decades after she retired from the lingerie brand’s annual catwalk to pursue other entertainment opportunities.

While appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show to discuss the show’s closing, Tyra discussed the feeling of true joy as she returned to her role as a Victoria’s Secret Angel for the evening.

After the host said Banks looked like she felt “good about herself” and was really “living in the moment and really present” during her runway walk, Banks said that description perfectly captured what it was like to take her wing after so many years to dust off.

Unlike previous years, when the mother of one said she was “going to go for it” for herself, the Life-Size actress said this time she “felt like everyone was inside her” when she took the stage.

“50-year-old women, insecure women — I just felt like there was more, and I look at the representation and I’m like, boom, boom, boom. I stomped because I felt like I was more of a vessel than it was just about me. It was different,” Banks raved.

The America’s Next Top Model creator also reflected on how her body has changed over the years.

“What was also different was that my breasts were ten times bigger, because I was about 40-50 pounds heavier on this runway than when I retired,” she told viewers. “So I was like, ‘Don’t fall out, don’t fall out.'”

While serving as a VS Angel, Banks walked nine shows before announcing her retirement from modeling in 2005.

It comes after the model reflected on her iconic comeback at last year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (pictured), almost two decades after retiring from the lingerie brand’s annual catwalk to pursue other entertainment opportunities.

Victoria’s Secret announced in August that Banks would participate in the star-studded fashion show.

Tyra teamed up with Gigi to confirm the event’s return after a six-year hiatus.

Tyra presented Gigi with an invitation to the show in an Instagram video, with the words “see you later,” to which Hadid replied, “I love you.”

She also teased her performance in a TikTok video the following month.

“It feels crazy to be back on the Victoria’s Secret runway. I mean, cray-cray as in cray-cray good. To be honest, I never thought I would be on this runway again. I remember – what was it like, 19 years ago – and I thought, “This is it.”

“And I remember all the press: ‘Tyra’s… last… walk.” It was so over the top, and I thought, ‘I’m out.'”

Banks walked her first fashion show for the lingerie brand in 1996.

Her last Victoria’s Secret runway appearance took place in 2005, before she embarked on a television career.

The 2024 show also saw the return of Victoria’s Secret vets Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima, as well as next-generation icons Taylor Hill and Barbara Palvin.

Cher headlined the evening, along with Blackpink alum Lisa and rising star Tyla, marking the show’s first-ever all-female musical lineup.

In 2009, she said she no longer believed in diets.

‘I have dieted in the past. They are a bunch of bologna,” she said on The Tyra Show in 2009.

‘It’s not about being thin. It’s about being in the best shape you can be.”
