Bill Murray hoisted the NCAA trophy onto the podium Monday after UConn’s 75-60 victory over Purdue in the national championship game.
Murray joined in the festivities for the second year in a row as his son and UConn assistant coach Luke Murray helped the Huskies cap a dominant tournament run with their sixth title in program history.
The Ghostbusters star shared a moment with Luke after the 15-point win. He then took the stage and lifted the coveted trophy before handing it back to Luke.
Murray also supported the Huskies during the game as the jumbotron went back and forth between him and Purdue alum Drew Brees.
Murray and the NFL star had a friendly competition deflect during one of the timeouts in the second half. The crowd erupted as they switched positions as they took turns on the big screen.

Murray always supported his second-oldest child and cheered on Luke on his previous teams, Xavier and Louisville.
UConn head coach Dan Hurley also acknowledged that he anticipates Luke’s eventual departure to take a head coaching job elsewhere.
UConn won their first national title in 1999 and is tied with North Carolina for the third-most titles in NCAA history. They are also the first team since Florida in 2006-07 to win back-to-back titles.
Additionally, the Huskies set a record for the highest point differential in the NCAA Tournament.
The Huskies won their final seven regular season games before dominating their way to the title in the NCAA Tournament. They dominated Illinois 77-52 in the Elite 8 before taking on Alabama for an 86-72 victory in the Final Four.
